Emily Robertson & Tyler Haskovec will be married on Jan. 3rd at St. John's Lutheran Church.

Ethel Luiken, 76, Grundy Center, died Dec. 26 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

Mary A. Zmolek, 91, Toledo, died Dec. 28 at Marshalltown Surgical & Medical Center.

Leeward Albert, 82, Cedar Falls, died Dec. 23 at Allen Hospital.

Gerald Frier, 64, Reinbeck, passed away Dec. 26 at the VA Medical Center in Knoxville.


JAN. 15, 1994

Jeanette Voss, Grundy Center, was the winner by a drawing of a new 1993 Corvette.

Harold Quackenbush, 83, Reinbeck, passed away on Jan. 1 at Grundy Care Center.

Ernest Brandhorst, 78, Dike, died Jan. 3 at Grundy Care Center.

Mr. & Mrs. Joe Karkosh will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 16.

Effie Klosterboer, 93, Grundy Center, died Dec. 30.

Walt Mennenga, head custodian at Reinbeck School, has retired after 37 years of service.

Mr. & Mrs. Paul Strohbehn, Reinbeck, are parents of a son born Jan. 6.

Mr. & Mrs. Richard Bloom, Ackley, are parents of a daughter born Jan. 3.

Olinda Lage, 84, Reinbeck, died Jan. 6.

Alberta Meyers, 84, Grundy Center, died Dec . 29.

Hazel Lawless, 87, Grundy Center, died Jan. 5.

Wm. Mohr, 93, Gladbrook, died Jan. 9.

Roy Redfearn, 76, Reinbeck, died Jan. 11.

Mr. & Mrs. Joe Karkosh will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Jan. 12.

Vandals destroyed an expensive coat rack at the Memorial Bldg. last Sunday afternoon.

Mr. & Mrs. Frank Wyatt are parents of a son born Jan. 10.

First baby born in Grundy County was a daughter to Mr. & Mrs. Paul Stillman of Grundy Center.

Susan Landtiser of Brandon, S.D. and Melvin Junge announce their engagement.


JAN. 1964

Stuart Peterson has purchased the Agnes Gardiner residence for $9,000.

Alvena Hoeppner purchased the Larry Petersen residence in west Reinbeck for $11,000.

Emma Saul, 86, died at her home on Jan. 9

Darrell Karr, 47, Traer, died of a coronary attack on Jan. 12.

John Schlicht's closing out sale will be held on Jan. 21.


JAN. 1954

Mr. & Mrs. Donald Hepperle near Gilbertville lost their home in a fire on Jan. 12.

Monica Brandt, Waterloo and James E. Lovell, were married on Jan. 9.

Mr. & Mrs. Leroy Dew, Morrison, lost a baby daughter born Jan. 12 and she died Jan. 14.

Mr. & Mrs. Marvin Johannsen are parents of a son born Jan. 3.


JAN. 1944

Elmer Rickert overturned his truck on the way back from Dike. He and his passenger, James Mooty were pinned beneath but managed to get out.

Katherine Greiner & Carl Gerhard were married on Jan. 16.

Six Reinbeckers took the postal exam: H.R. Robinson, Thos J. Emmett, I.O. Jacobson, Gedis Murray, Lyle Robinson and John Armstrong.
