Melissa Wood and her two daughters lost their home and all of their belongings including all Christmas presents on Dec. 13 due to a fire.

Mr. & Mrs. Gary Lorenz are parents of a daughter born Nov. 7.

Larry Rohach, board member of the Grundy Co. REC, has been elected to serve as a State Board member of the Iowa Association in Des Moines.

Josie Lemke received her BSN nursing pin on Dec. 13 at Grand View College in Des Moines.

Alice L. Delfs, 88, Cedar Falls, died Dec. 20 at Sartori Hospital.

Myrna Freed, 76, Grundy Center, died Dec. 15 at the Grundy Care Center.


DEC. 30, 1993

Mr. & Mrs. Lyle Steffen are observing their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 5.

Dawn Meester, Dike, and Kevin Zandberg of British Columbia, Canada, will be married on August 3, 1994.

Elizabeth Dooley, 69, formerly of Reinbeck, died Dec. 28 in Waverly.

Fred Smith, 70, Grundy Center, died Dec. 19.

Aric Stickfort became a certified paramedic in June, 1992. He is also a member of the Reinbeck Fire Dept.

Beth Hamer daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Jim Hamer, a G-R senior, has been appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo.


JAN. 5, 1984

Helen Wescott, 82, Beaman, died Dec. 25.

Ted Berner, son of Mr. & Mrs. Ray Berner, Traer, received his Masters Degree in zoology from Ohio State University on Dec. 9 in Columbus, Ohio.

Verne Eberline, Wellsburg, was named Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.


JAN. 10, 1974

Dale Hookie, new owner of Reinbeck's Bakery "Baker's Oven" is now open for business on Main St.

The youngest mayor, Mark Nash, was administered the oath of office by City Clerk/Attorney Robert Beard on Jan. 2.

Bertha Engel, 90, Reinbeck, died Jan. 6 at Parkview Manor.

Adolph Dahms, 86, Gladbrook, died unexpectedly at his home on Jan. 2.

Mr. & Mrs. Albert Dierks, S., Gladbrook, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 20.

Jean Jans and Donald A. Jansen were married Jan. 5 at the United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Clifford Green, 63, Grundy Center, died Dec. 31 in Rochester, Minn.

Teresa Kibik, 83, Traer, died Jan. 4 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer.

Clara E. Shellenberger, 77, formerly of Dinsdale, died Jan. 5.

Mr. & Mrs. John Wieben to observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 14.

Mary Bern and Norris Schuman were married on Dec. 28.

Mr. & Mrs. Art Koht are parents of a son born Dec. 30.

Mr. & Mrs. Carl Schick are parents of a son born Jan. 5.
