DEC. 18, 2003

American Legion Auxiliary Unit #242 in Reinbeck went to help the Iowa Veterans Home residents do some Christmas shopping.

Fundraising begins for lake campground.

On November 19 three ladies from the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck took 89 Christmas wrapped shoe boxes to Independence filled with presents for kids ages 2-14.

Mary Schmidt, Grundy Center, is among 140 Iowans who recently attended the 3rd session of the Iowa State Election Administrators Training held in Des Moines on Nov. 18.

Pauline Crawford, 93, died Dec. 10 at Covenant Medical Center.

Allan Spieker, 56, Grundy Center, died Dec. 6 at the Grundy Care Center.

Malinda Scheuman, 93, Fort Wayne, Ind. died Dec. 12 in Fort Wayne.

Jason Keller & Michelle Beenken will be married on Feb. 7th at the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck.

Mr. & Mrs. Craig Schellhorn are parents of a daughter born Dec. 8.


DEC. 23, 1993

Reinbeck Mayor Lon Larsen resigns after 12 years of service.

Thelma Osborne, 80, Gladbrook, died Dec. 15 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center.

Pil McLean, 86, Conrad, died Dec. 19 at Oakview Nursing Home of a heart attack.

Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Shinn are parents of a daughter born Dec. 5.

David Poppen graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering.

Tawyna Carter and Allen Neal announce their engagement and approaching marriage.


DEC. 1983

Most of the state reported the coldest Christmas Eve in history at 26 degrees below zero and winds gusting to 30 miles per hour.

A fire on Christmas morning completely destroyed the garage, machine shed and its contents at the home of Tom & Judy Cooper farm.

Ida Taylor celebrated her 100 birthday.

Manley Smith, 82, Grundy Center, died Dec. 26 at his home.


DEC. 1973

Mr. & Mrs. Dale Heidemann purchased the former Bertha Engel property on E. Clark St. for $9,250.

Jill Nieman and Doug Danielsen were married Dec. 22 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Waterloo.

Ron Burch, 24, Gladbrook, remains in critical condition at a Marshalltown Hospital suffering from multiple broken ribs, lung and heart puncture wounds. He became entangled in a power take-off while working on the family farm Christmas Eve.

Arthur Finke, 79, rural Traer, died Dec. 27 at Americana Nursing Home in Waterloo.

Dick Dinsdale, rural Traer, has begun his duties as manager of the Aplington Sale Barn in Aplington.

Kathy Meyer, 23, was treated for a cut on her head at Allen Hospital after the auto she was riding in driven by her husband, Donald J. Meyer, hit the rear of a parked car.

Michael E. Blohm, 19, Traer, was treated for injuries at Allen Hospital. He was injured when the pistol he was carrying discharged striking him in the leg.


DEC. 1963

Mr. & Mrs. Albert Witt will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 10, 1974.

Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Blong, Charles City, are parents of a son born Dec. 26.

Mr. & Mrs. Harry Birdsell, Hampton, are parents of a son born Dec. 24.

Rudy Paustain will have a complete closing out sale on Jan. 7.

Donald Busby and E. Joanne Kline were married Dec. 14.


DEC. 1953

R.C. Shoup, Reinbeck's newly elected Mayor takes office.

Enno Stork will have a closing out sale on Jan. 7.

J. Kenneth Anderson sold the Dinsdale Locker Plant to Al Ohrt who owns the Dinsdale Store.

Mr. & Mrs. Lou Bohnsack are parents of a daughter born Dec. 16.


DEC. 1943

Herman Tetzner, 57, died Dec. 24 following two weeks of illness.

Capt. Louis E. Morrison and Ramona Keye, Traer, were married on Dec. 25.

Adolph Niederman will hold a closing out sale on Jan. 4.

Mr. & Mrs. Walter Thede are parents of a daughter born Dec. 25.
