DECEMBER 11, 2003

A two vehicle accident on Dec. 5 resulted in the death of Ray Rasine of Eldora. Rasine, 59, was driving west on Hwy 175 five miles west of Grundy Center when he crossed the center line into the path of Casey Haroldson, Waterloo, colliding nearly head on.

Katie See, Reinbeck, has been accepted at Luther College for the 2004-2005 academic year. She received a Presidential Scholarship.

Mr. & Mrs. Justin Waller, Traer, are parents of a son born Nov. 17.

Norman Behrns celebrated his 90th birthday with a card shower on Nov. 29.

Alice Danielsen, 74, Traer, died Dec. 3 at Covenant Medical Center.

Irma Peters, 95, Reinbeck, died Dec. 3 at the Long Term Care Center at the Grundy Hospital.

Inez Buhman, 80, Reinbeck, died Dec. 5 at Covenant Medical Center of a heart attack.

Marlin Klar, 72, Grundy Center, died Dec. 3 at Allen Hospital.

Lisa Helland has accepted membership in the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at iowa State University.


DECEMBER 16, 1993

Mr. & Mrs. Carl Roeding are parents of a daughter born Dec. 3

Mr. & Mrs. Chuck Freitag are parents of a son born Dec. 4.

Mr. & Mrs. Brian Karkosh are parents of a son born Dec. 5.

Mr. & Mrs. Adrian Penn are parents of a daughter born Dec. 10.

Mr. & Mrs. Leo Meewes were married Dec. 26 in Reinbeck.

Jay Wilson passed away on Dec. 10.

Eloise Brandt retires after 20 years as custodian of Reinbeck School system.


DECEMBER 15, 1983

Steve Lupkes from Ackley, became the new agronomist at Pioneer.

Ivus Severance, 92, formerly of Grundy Center, died Dec. 15.

David Folkerts, son of Mr. & Mrs. Walt Folkerts, graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Army Sp. 4 Kip Monk has completed basic training at Fort Leonard, Mo. and advanced training at Yuma Proving Ground, Ariz.

Tim Billerbeck, son of Mr. & Mrs. Don Billerbeck graduated from Iowa State University in Ames in agricultural business.



Albert Dirks, 83, died at Parkview on Dec. 22.

Forest Raney, Reinbeck postmaster for the past 15 years, will retire on Dec. 22.

Herman Thede, 78, Waterloo, formerly of Reinbeck, died at Allen Hospital on Dec. 21 of a heart condition.



Mrs. Wm. Buck, 73, Lincoln, died Dec. 18.

Wm. L. Mooty, 56, Grundy Center, has announced he will seek re-election as Lieut. Governor of Iowa.

Agnes Gardner submitted to her 2nd leg amputation in several months.

Dike now has direct dial on long distance phone calls.

John Aswegan, 71, Grundy Center, died Dec. 17.

For ten straight days morning temps have been below zero. The coldest was 25 below breaking all records.


DEC. 1953

Mrs. Alvin Petersen, 33, died December 19 after several months of illness.

The Memorial Bldg. is completed. Heating is being cared for by city employees. Restrooms will be open to the public daily.

Bertha A. Mosey & Harold Grapperhaus were married on Dec. 22 in Stuttgard, Germany.

Fire at the Ralph Mitchell farm, near Hudson, destroyed a hog house and 30 hogs.



Alma Cooley, Morrison, received a letter from her husband, Delmar, that he is a Japanese prisoner at Shanghai, China.

Second Lieut. Donald Boss received his wings at the Army Air Force Flight School at Duke Field, Ariz.

Lee Petersen while chasing a chicken fell on a stick which pierced his right eye causing a painful wound, but sight was no impaired.

Margaret Peatow & Private Warren Lewis announce their engagement.
