G-R High School ranks 9th in class 1A for the Bank of Iowa Traveling Challenge Cup

The Bank Iowa Traveling Challenge Cup is a program designed to recognize Iowa High School students for academic excellence in the classroom and outstanding achievement during state competitions. The Traveling Challenge Cup is a combined, statewide, year-long competition among all member high schools of the IHSAA, IHSSA, IGHSAU and IHSMA. Schools will be divided in to the four class format used for State Basketball Competition. Any event that is sanctioned by the IHSAA, IHSSA, IGHSAU and IHSMA is eligible to be included. Points are awarded to the schools based on their participation for a State Championship in athletics, music, speech, debate and each individual teams academic accomplishments in the classroom whether they make it to a State Tournament or not. Gladbrook-Reinbeck has scored points in the following areas:

Large Group Speech: 25 points

Boys Track: 45 points

Football: 45 points

Boys Golf (Spring): 30 points

Individual Speech: 25 points

Large Group Band: 25 points

Large Group Vocal: 25 points

Girls Soccer: 25 points

Softball: 25 points

Girls Track: 25 points

Boys/Girls Cross Country: 50 points

Volleyball: 25 points

Boys Basketball: 25 points

Boys Soccer: 25 points

Girls Basketball: 25 points

Wrestling: 10 points

Solo- Small Ensemble- Wind: 10 points

Solo- Small Ensemble- Vocal: 10 points

The school in each class that earns the most points at the end of the year will receive a Traveling Challenge Cup to display permanently in their school. In addition, a $1,500.00 donation will be given to each school and shall be used towards enhancing the academic learning components that are now available with in the entire school system for all students. The Iowa High School Sports Network will post the standings on the IHSSN Website under QUIK Stats quarterly so schools and students can monitor their point totals.
