National 4-H Week was celebrated October 6th 12th, 2013. It is a week to celebrate the great things that the 4-H youth development program offers young people and highlight the incredible 4-H young people who each day work to a make a positive impact on their community. Grundy County Extension & Outreach kicked off the week with an awesome enrollment incentive. Anyone who joined Grundy County 4-H by midnight on October 12th received FREE enrollment, a $30.00 value. The Grundy County Extension Council and County 4-H & Youth Council sponsored the enrollment discount. 142 4th -12th graders & 46 Clover Kids took advantage of this great deal.

Sunday afternoon was spent at Barn Stahl Petting Zoo & Corn Maze with approximately 60 members & family in attendance. A group of county 4-H council members got together at Pizza Hut to share ideas for the upcoming year. Monday you may have seen youth wearing green. It was wear your 4-H shirt to school day. And on Tuesday twenty people attended the Record Book work night, asked questions, shared memories and learned how to put together a 4-H Record Book. On Wednesday, approximately twenty people participated in the Community Service event by helping Latta, Harris, Hanon & Penningroth move their business. On Thursday Grundy County Extension & Outreach and 4-H celebrated at Girls Night in Grundy Center. We made wands and crowns with the youth and some adults who stopped by to check us out. Friday was our 4-H & ISU spirit day and we wrapped up the week with a movie at Center Theatre.

We would like to extend an invitation to you to join 4-H as a member, leader or volunteer. For more information please contact the Grundy County Extension Office at 319-824-6979 or email Andrea Traeger at traegera@iastate.edu.
