My name is Chris Bunz and I have been a member of this community for 19 years. I am a certified gastroenterology coder for Cedar Valley Medical Specialists and Allen Digestive Heath Center. I am married to Brian Bunz who owns Reinbeck Auto and is a member of Reinbeck's City Council. We have a son Mitchell who is 12 years old and attends the G-R Middle School.
I am running for a position on the Reinbeck Park Board in order to assist in the decision making process and assist in the implementation and oversight of those decisions with regard to our pool and our parks.
I feel the biggest challenge facing the Park Board is our pool. The pool management, ongoing maintenance and repairs and ways to increase revenue are all areas that I feel need attention. The hiring of an individual who is highly-qualified, detail oriented and has strong communication skills is a must for the position of pool manager and would be a great start for making positive changes at the pool. As a Park Board member I would be actively involved in assisting the pool manager in whatever means necessary in order to make sure our facility is up and running at a high level of patron satisfaction. Pool repairs can be very costly to our city. I feel that the Park Board, City Council and City Administrator need to work effectively together and look at the budget and come up with a fiscally responsible plan of action in order to address these issues. The need to increase revenue is also an area that should be explored. The Park Board and pool manager collaboratively should be exploring ideas in order to bring more patrons to our pool and then keep them coming back due to their positive experience at our facility.
