The Black Hawk Nighthawks 4-H Club kicked off their year on Sunday, September 8th. We started off with a potluck supper for Bonnie Shinn as way to say "Thank You" for all she has done for 4-H and for our club over the years.
After the dinner, the meeting was called to order. The roll call was "say your favorite thing from the county fair."
We elected Hannah Martin as President, Ashley Moore as Vice President, Audrey Leyen as Treasurer, Kelly Brockett as Secretary, and Sadie Brockett as Reporter. We talked about this year's schedule. Malissa reminded us that our record books need to be turned in to the Extension Office during National 4-H week (October 6-12th). We need to let Malissa know by October by 7th if we need her to take them to the Extension Office for us. We decided we will be selling Younkers Community Day books again this year (they will be valid November 15th and 16th).
Our new officers: Back row: Ashley Moore (Vice President) & Hannah Martin (President); Front Row: Kelly Brockett (Secretary), Audrey Leyen (Treasurer) & Sadie Brockett (Reporter).
Some of the projects we took to the fair will be on display at the Reinbeck Library during the month of October. County Council wanted feedback on the fair so we discussed likes and dislikes about the date, length, and other comments about the fair this year.
There were also sign-up sheets for presentations at upcoming meetings as well as participating and planning our Share the Fun skit for next year's fair.
Hannah and Ashley shared with us the working exhibit they did at the county fair & State Fair which involved making a decorative butterfly craft.
Our next meeting will be Sunday, October 13th at 5:00 p.m. at the Reinbeck Elementary. New members or anyone interested in learning more about 4-H are always welcome.
