October 6, 2013
Jessica Larsen - Managing Editor , Reinbeck Courier

On September 21, 2013, Pam Anderson became the new official postmaster at the Reinbeck post office. Pam began her career at the USPS in January 2004. She started part time as a relief postmaster in Steamboat Rock working on Saturdays and whenever the postmaster went on vacation. During this time she continued to work at the Department of Human Services working with the elderly by assisting with doctors' appointments, laundry, cleaning, etc.

In 2005 Anderson began working at the Lincoln post office as the officer in charge and continued to split her time in Lincoln and in Steamboat Rock. She was working up to 36 hours a week.

On June 30, 2010 Anderson began working at the Holland post office. The postmaster there had retired. Before she could start in Holland, Pam had to find a replacement at the Lincoln office.

Anderson began working in Reinbeck on May 7, 2011. This is when the Reinbeck and Grundy Center post offices first changed their hours. She worked in Holland from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and Reinbeck noon to 4:30 p.m.

On February 9, 2013 the Reinbeck office again changed hours and Pam began working only in Reinbeck six hours a day. Anderson applied for the full time postmaster position in July and was hired with this title in September.

Pam said that one of the biggest changes for her has been to learn the computer system at the Reinbeck office. Other duties include handling all of the incoming mail. Pam says, "I'm really happy to be working in Reinbeck. Every day I come to work, I'm excited. The Reinbeck office is considered to be a remote managed post office. This means that Anderson reports directly to the Grundy Center office.

The Reinbeck post office hours are Monday Friday 10:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and closed over lunch from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. The postmaster hours are Monday Friday 10:20 a.m. - 5:50 p.m. and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Inside and outside mail collection is picked up at 5:15 p.m. Mail is delivered to p.o. boxes by 12:30 p.m. Anderson says, "The most exciting part of my job is customer service, because that is what I do with every individual that walks through the door."
