Dear Editor,

To some landowners of this county. You may soon receive or perhaps already have received your certified letter from Rock Island Clean Line depending on their final route. Said letter will tell you that they are going to build a 600 kilovolt Direct Current high voltage transmission line. And you lucky landowner will be able to sell them an easement across your property. You, of course, will be paid top dollar as well as damages for crop loss etc. so they say. However, things will never be the same for your land or farming practices again. Land devaluation, limited aerial spraying, tax liabilities, health concerns, very tall poles marching across your field and general inconvenience!

Know that this is not a done deal and many of us here in the first 6 notified counties of Iowa are fighting this line. We are organized and getting better informed every day. I urge you to become informed yourselves. The Preservation of Rural Iowa website is iowastopricl.com. On this site you will get accurate information and find out how others are dealing with this and what you can do. Landowners do have rights and you need to find out what they are.

Sincerely,

Diane Darr
