Grundy County Memorial Hospital (GCMH) will be hosting a free CEU program for EMS personnel, firefighters, and nurses titled "Gunshot Wounds" on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 6:00 8:00 p.m. in the GCMH Education Room (enter at Door #3 on the west side of the hospital). Kris Baerenwald, RN, PS Air Care II, will be the presenter. The purpose of the program is to discuss the treatment of the patient with a gunshot wound and to provide information related to scene safety, protection of crime scene, and gunshot wounds categorization.
The objectives of the program are to: Discuss scene safety issues, identify procedures to protect crime scene evidence, describe the different calibers of weapons, identify low to high velocity wounds, categorize treatment for gunshot wounds based on location and travel of bullet.
This program has been approved for 2.0 hour formal CEH for EMS personnel or 0.24 CEU's for nurses. Participants must attend the entire program to receive credit.
