Ribbons awarded in 4-H beef of merit show

Marc Johnson of Clarksville and Leah Mosher of Conrad exhibited the top two market animals in the 4-H Beef of Merit Show judged Tuesday at the 2013 Iowa State Fair.

Window A

Champion - Marc Johnson, Allison

Reserve Champion - Katelynn Johnson, Clarksville

Third Place - Samuel Lane, Mediapolis

Fourth Place - Wyatt Orr, Mediapolis

Fifth Place - Kelley Stanley, Conrad

Window B

Champion - Leah Mosher, Conrad

Reserve Champion - Kaden Dewey, Shell Rock

Third Place - Dawson Brader, Mediapolis

Fourth Place - Wyatt Orr, Mediapolis

The 4-H Beef of Merit is a terminal show. The dual purpose of the contest is a live show followed by a carcass contest in which the economically important traits of beef are scientifically evaluated. Live placings are for ribbons only. Final placing of these cattle will be determined after processing and carcass evaluation. The final winner of each division earns $500.
