AUGUST 14, 2003

Sweet Corn Days 2003 fulfills two missions-The Self Help QPM Nicaragua Project and sweet corn day.

Mr. & Mrs. Greg Miller, New Hampton, will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary on August 30.

Mr. & Mrs. Mel Dudolski will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on August 16.

Sandra Sebbert & R. Scott Kelley will be married on Sept. 20 at Salem Church in Lincoln.


AUGUST, 1993

Clarence A. Schulz, 81, Gladbrook, died August 12 at his home of an apparent heart attack.

Raymond Dufel, 83 Hudson, died August 7 at Covenant Medical Center.

Martin Dufel, 78, Hudson, died August 8 at the Grundy Co. Memorial Hospital.

Violet Oppelt, 88, Reinbeck, died August 4 at the Grundy Co., Memorial Hospital.

Helen Juhl made a hole-in-one at Oakleaf Golf Club on Aug. 10.

Virgil & Arlene Wulf hosted a reunion at Lake City, Minn. celebrating 50 years since the formation of the men who served in World War II Army buddies and their wives. Attendees were from Colo., Mo. and Iowa.


AUGUST 18, 1983

More than 600 attended Reinbeck's Sweet Corn Days.

A barn on the Harold Robertson farm, 2 miles south of Reinbeck, was destroyed by fire.

Ruth Paton and Linda Rickert, both of Reinbeck, won $400 and James Maar, Buckingham won $300 at Ernie's Super Valu bankroll.

Nancy Anderson & Robert Hoffman were married on July 23 in West Bend, Iowa.

Mr. & Mrs. Earl Dinsdale, Reinbeck, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 31

Mr. & Mrs. Rod Ragsdale are parents of a daughter born August 9.

Mr. & Mrs. Jim Harmsen are parents of a son born Aug. 13.

Victoria Devick, 78, Reinbeck, died August 15.


AUGUST 23, 1973

Ken Roberts sold his home at 105 Randall to Gerald Robinson and Rick Jans.

Mr. & Mrs. Gregg Moser sold their home to Effye Hargan for $16,000.

Mrs. Don McIntyre won a Viking sewing machine at a drawing at Fashion Fabrics.

Henry Ramundt, 74, Reinbeck, died suddenly on August 7 while in a doctors office in Traer.

Mr. & Mrs. Harry Cheeseman will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a dance at Lincoln. They were married on August 27, 1948.

Steve Frampton, 13, will receive rank of Eagle Scout. He is the youngest to receive Eagle Rank in Reinbeck.

Anna Hepperle, 85, died August 19 at her home of an apparent heart attack.

John Fiet, 82, Reinbeck, died August 18 at Schoitz Hospital.

Robert Shope, 66, died August 15 at his home in Gladbrook.


AUGUST, 1963

Mr. & Mr. Warren Hall purchased a lot from Wayne Bean and plan to build a new home.

Mr. & Mrs. Noel Bern's home became flooded when one of the boys left a cloth in the basin and left the water running.

Mr. & Mrs. Lance Nehring of Albert City are parents of twin girls born August 16.

Mr. & Mrs. John Westergaard are parents of a son born August 18.


AUGUST, 1953

Second Lieut. George Morrison of Reinbeck, was promoted to First Lieut. He is stationed with the Marines in Korea.

Record enrollment of 675 pupils and the largest teaching staff of 32 teachers will open at the Reinbeck School.

Due to tremendous public demand the Grundy Co. Fair will hold more thrilling stock car races.


AUGUST, 1943

James McInnes, 75 Albion, father of Mrs. Leroy Moser died August 18.

Mr. & Mrs. Nelson Sager are parents of a daughter born August 15.

Mr. & Mrs. Ray Clausman, Waterloo, are parents of a son born August 16.

Mr. & Mrs. James Neil, Reinbeck, are parents of a son born August 6.

Dinsdale School to open August 30.
