JULY 24, 2003

At the monthly meeting of the American Legion & Sons of American Legion Post #242 members honored the Korean Vets and Korean Era Veterans.

Laura Rickert & Rob Bruner announce wedding plans on August 23 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer.

Amanda Clubine finishes in the top 10 for American Miss.

Darwin Finke, 63, Reinbeck, died July 18 of a heart attack while painting with Watson Painting.

Jerald Hall, 85, died July 7 at St. Peters Hospital in Washington State.

Gerhard "George" Beenken, 78, Morrison, died July 15 at Covenant Medical Center.

Gary D. Poland, 67, Waterloo, died July 14 at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz.

Walter Miller, Reinbeck, conducted the meeting of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federated sheep division on July 16 in West Des Moines.

Reinbeck golf team won Mut. Golf benefit and collected $2,120 for six area fire departments.


JULY 29, 1993

Miller Lambs, Ltd. owned & operated by Walt & Connie Miller, won a lawsuit against Gregory Griffith and Roger Ide, for the loss of lambs which had been placed in their care.

Mr. & Mrs. Paul Strohbehn are parents of a son born July 8.

Shalleen Lynch & Kenneth Hatch were married at the Cedar Falls United Church of Christ on May 29.

Jean Houge & Rick Schmidt were married June 26 at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.

Patricia Rhoads and Kent Wulf were married on May 14 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Traer.

Anna Stork died at Twilight Acres Nursing Home on July 23.

Henrietta Hayes, 89, rural Buckingham died July 23 at Parkview Gardens Care Center.


JULY 28, 1983

Two Reinbeck students, Karla Bern and Rhonda Staker received $1,000 scholarships from Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Co.

Cheryl Babinat, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Adolph Babinat, Reinbeck, will be competing for the title of Miss Iowa in Newton.

State Representative Ward Handorf has been appointed to serve on a committee of the Iowa Legislature that will be examining the issue of excellence in education.


AUGUST 2, 1973

Bill Ballard sold his business, Bill's Lounge, to Mr. & Mrs. Richard Riley of Dysart.

Kirk Jensen, Craig Thayer, David Keith, Craig Jensen and Steven Frampton have earned scoutings highest rank of Eagle Rank.

Edna Hooper, 73, Gladbrook, died July 21 at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home.

Patty Miller & Roger Miller were married on July 28 at the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck.

Kenneth Kroeger, 50, Gladbrook, died at work on July 26.

Joyce Creswell & Clyde Goldman were married July 28 in Omaha, Neb.

Henry Bursh, 79, Gladbrook died July 29 in Marshalltown Hospital.

Golda Craig, 80, Reinbeck, died July 24 at her home.

Virgil Schmitt, 23, Muscatine, has been named 4-H and Youth Leader for Grundy & Butler counties. He succeeds Harold Wagner.


AUGUST, 1963

Luther A. Schmidt, 61, was killed in an auto accident on July 28 southeast of Reinbeck.

Nella Porter, sold her home on Park St. to the Pieres Bros of Eagle Center for $10,250.

Wayne Schmidt of Reinbeck has resigned as Commercial Club President. Bob Stephan has been appointed to fill the position.

Bruce French & John Wagstaff of Reinbeck, will compete on August 17 at the Iowa State Fair in the Talent of Champions as comedians.

A price war on gasoline has reduced the price of regular gas to 28.9 per gallon in Reinbeck.

Judith Hummel of Morrison and Melvin Steward have announced their wedding plans for August 2.

Marian A. Knaack and James Meester announce their engagement.

Mr. & Mrs. Vern Eckhoff are parents of a son born July 26.


JULY, 1953

Kenneth Moye & Mrs. Mark Haynes were winners in Super Reinbeck Day drawing. They each received 25 silver dollars.

Jack Niehaus got his left hand caught in a threshing machine separator. His index finger required stitches.

Kay Tommon, Eldora & James Lewis, Reinbeck, were married on July 26.

Dorothy Draper & Roger Redfearn were married on July 25.


AUGUST, 1943

Leora Hall & James Poisal were married on July 24.

Otto Albrecht, 52, Reinbeck business man, died July 24 of a heart attack.

Mr. & Mrs. Joe Greiner are parents of a son born July 28.

Mr. & Mrs. Albert Dahms, Lincoln, are parents of a daughter born July 25.

Mr. & Mrs. Hans Storjohann, Lincoln, are parents of a daughter born July 18.

Reinbeck got relief from the 90-95 temps with a 1" rain fall.
