Reinbeck area churches to sponsor Reinbeck Sweet Corn Days on August 9.

Grundy Center woman, Cathy Krausman, 36, died when a tree shifted and fell on her at her residence on July 8 by Grundy Center.

Grundy Co. Lake to open on July 19.

Mr. & Mrs. Merlin Adair will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on July 26 with a family dinner.


JULY, 1993

Mike Thede was elected to the FMHA Committee.

Dan Bicket took over the "Your Place or Mine" building and created an office for the Quiet car company.

Heidi Witt & Brad Evenson announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

Susan Wagner & Donald Dufel were married in Hudson.


JULY 21, 1983

Alma Bern, 79, formerly of Reinbeck, died July 17.

Renee Schroeder & Dennis Shaffer announce their engagement.

Mr. & Mrs. Stanley Slessor, Dike, are parents of a son born July 13.

Mr. & Mrs. Larry Helland are parents of a daughter born July 14.

Mr. & Mrs. John Cowell of Bondurant are parents of a daughter born June 22.

Mr. & Mrs. Allen Thede are parents of a son born July 13.


JULY 26, 1973

Rick Swaney, Iowa City pharmacist, has purchased the H. Emil Nissen one-half interest of Bean & Nissen Drug in Reinbeck. The sale will be effective August 1 with Swaney in operation on August 6.

Mr. & Mrs. Bill Creswell, Reinbeck, are parents of a son born July 21.

James Kubik, 84, died at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer on July 23 due to complications of age.

Audrey Tomlinson, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Don Tomlinson, Traer, was selected as Miss Tama County for 1973.

An informant's tip has led to the arrest of three men in connection with the alleged theft of $6,000 worth of equipment at the Beaman Coop construction site.


JULY, 1963

Carol Tapper, 17, and Joan Dufel, Hudson, were named Queens of Conservation for 1963.

The Congregational Church installed new carpeting and pews for the main part of the church for $10,000.

Don Keith sold his residence to Grace Coffman for $6,900.

The John Samo house in south Reinbeck was sold to Don Keith for $16,500.

Dr. William Kienzle, 42, formerly of Lincoln, died in Texas on July 18.


JULY, 1953

Dean Snow has been selected as a member of the National FFA Band which will be featured at the National FFA Convention in Kansas City.

Two Hundred forty Jamaicans arrived in Reinbeck to detassel corn for Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Co.

Mr. & Mrs. Russell Witt are parents of a son born July 17.

Mr. & Mrs. Gene Stone are parents of a daughter born July 22.

Richard Raum, 3, son of Mr. & Mrs. LeRoy Raum was accidently wounded by his 17 year old brother, Dennis.

Mr. & Mrs. Floyd Creswell are parents of a daughter born July 6.

Mr. & Mrs. Richard Rausch, south of Hudson, are parents of a son born July 16.

Mr. & Mrs. Ed Hanisch are parents of a son born July 20.

Mr. & Mrs. Luther Haney, Dinsdale, are parents of a son born July 17.

Louis Morrison son of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Fackel, was promoted from first Lieutenant to Captain on July 8.
