Dear Editor,

Mayor Murphy, councilman and citizens of Reinbeck

We would like to bring it to your attention that we were at your 4th of July celebration with family and friends. I had my grandchildren at the pool and the manager and her girlfriend were making out in front of the kids. (I know she was the manager because her shirt had "manager" on it.)

She also left with her friend and went outside the pool area to the back side of the bath house, leaving the lifeguards and kids unattended with supervision to smoke a cigarette. Is not the pool and surrounding area smoke free?!

After she finished her cigarette she followed her friend to the car and set in the car at least 10 minutes. There was absolutely no supervision of the pool, kids, or support/supervision of the lifeguards.

I have been to your 4th of July celebration and swimming pool previous years and have never experienced this. Actually, we go back to Cedar Rapids and tell our friends what lovely facilities you have and how safe we feel our children are.

Besides the safety issues, we are concerned that she is not showing acceptable behavior to all the kids, lifeguards and her staff. We feel this is important to bring to your attention, so you are aware of your possible liabilities and lack of standard being exhibited at your pool.

Respectively submitted,

Kristi Sauer, Cedar Rapids
