New Reinbeck Pharmacy

July 21, 2013
Jessica Larsen - Managing Editor , Reinbeck Courier

If you don't live under a rock, you may have noticed that Reinbeck has a new pharmacist. Brent Bovy started working at the Reinbeck pharmacy at the beginning of 2013. He took over the business from the late Phil Colbert.

Bovy is a 2002 graduate of Waterloo Columbus high school. He attended the University of Iowa with an undergrad in pre-pharmacy and went onto the College of Pharmacy, also at Iowa, to receive a doctorate in pharmacy. Bovy then started working for Bob Greenwood at Denver Drug located in Denver, Iowa in 2008. Bovy says, "Bob gave me a lot of tools on how to run and own a pharmacy." In addition Bovy attended conferences on the subject. Owning a pharmacy is something that Bovy was interested in and last year Colbert started contacting people. Bob Greenwood was one of those people. Bovy and Greenwood became partners in owning the new Reinbeck Pharmacy. Colbert continued to work at the pharmacy until his health prevented him from doing so. The name has since changed from Phil's Pharmacy to Reinbeck Pharmacy.

The pharmacy currently has numerous part time employees. Laura Gansen is a part time pharmacist; part time technicians are: Sheri Selenke, Cindy Woebbeking, Roberta McCarthy and Brent's wife, Val Bovy. Technicians helping during the summer are Jenna Brandhorst, Kyle Packer and Jared Murphy.

Bovy plans to update the interior and exterior of the pharmacy. He would like to eventually move the pharmacy towards the back and increase the stock of over the counter items. The pharmacy currently offers diabetic footwear, canes, walkers and home medical supplies. Other options that may become available are wrist and ankle braces, a digital photo processing kiosk, wine and giftware.

Bovy says that the pharmacy has comparable prices to other pharmacies in the area. Employees are also available to help customers choose the best plan for Medicare part D. The pharmacy offers free blood-pressure checks. Immunizations for the flu and shingles are also available.

The Reinbeck Pharmacy hours are Monday Friday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. located at 401 Main Street in Reinbeck. The website is Please contact the pharmacy for further questions at 319-788-7445.
