Reinbeck is hit with high winds that ripped thru Reinbeck after the fireworks leaving downed trees, damaged buildings and no power well into Sat. afternoon. The home of Jeff & Heather Greiner sustained damage as a tree blew over falling on the roof.

Reinbeck first evening parade brings support of a new tradition to the opening of the July 4th celebration.

Mr. & Mrs. Marvin Cook will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a Hawaiian luau theme on Sat. July 12th at the First Presbyterian Church.

C. Kenneth Frey, 82, Gladbrook, died June 6 at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook.

Vic Robinson celebrates her 90th birthday with a surprise party at the U.C.C. Church with many family and friends attending.


JULY, 1993

J. Elwood Miller, 77, Reinbeck, died July 2 at the Grundy Hospital of heart failure.

Mr & Mrs. Kenneth Frey celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house on July 18.

Mr. & Mrs. Pete Porro, Reinbeck, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on July 17 at Oakleaf Country Club.


JULY 14, 1983

Chad Jensen, Reinbeck, constructed a new community sign with 18 Reinbeck organizations listed on the sign.

Chris Conrad and Cozette Putzier were married July 9 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly.

Harriett Bean, 96, Reinbeck, died July 10 at Allen Hospital.

Anne Schuck, 92, formerly of Reinbeck, died July 4 in Boulder, Colo.

Mr. & Mrs. Bink Keller, Bettendorf, are parents of a son born July 6.

Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Cheeseman, Des Moines, are parents of a son born July 3.

Mr. & Mrs. Tom Lorenz, Ames, are parents of a daughter born July 11.

Mr. & Mrs. Dan Bicket, Reinbeck, are parents of a daughter born July 2.

Mr. & Mrs. Mike Murphy, Lee's Summitt, Mo. are parents of a daughter born July 11.


JULY, 1973

Kenneth Plaehn has been hired as the new custodian at the Reinbeck School. He replaces Marvin Hinders who recently resigned.

Charles Beckwith, 62, died July 1 in Tucson, Ark.

Mr. & Mrs. Steve Robertson, Reinbeck, are parents of a daughter born July 14.

Roger Godfrey has been selected as Reinbeck Elementary School principal for the 73-74 school yar.

A fire of unknown origin razed a large barn on the Roger Frieling farm southeast of Reinbeck. Loss estimated between $15-20,000.


JULY, 1963

Mr. & Mrs. Charles Mumm celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

Reinbeck School Board has decided to tear down the old elementary building.

Mr. & Mrs. Russell Witt are parents of a daughter born July 16.

Mr. & Mrs. Vern Bolin have purchased the Haupt Estate home on w Randall for $8,500.


JULY, 1953

Mrs. Duane Jans won the door prize of a clock radio at Wheeler's Appliance Anniversary sale.

Mr. & Mrs. Walter Wulf sold their home in west Reinbeck to Mr. & Mrs. Al Dirks.

Michael Roberts, Gary Nash, Denny Dirks, Marvin Petersen and Bill Nissen all of Reinbeck, and Dick Doeden of Dike attended the National Jamboree at Ivine Ranch near Santa Ana, Calif.

Mr. & Mrs. Robert Cooper, Cedar Falls, are parents of a son born July 11.

Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Schuck, Boulder, Colo. are parents of a son born July 9.

Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Lear, Lincoln, are parents of a daughter born July 10.

The brick walls of the new Reinbeck Elementary are almost completed.


JULY, 1943

Mr. & Mrs. Vernon Jans are parents of a daughter born July 13.

Mr. & Mrs. Fred Peaton, Jr. Oklahoma City, Okla. are parents of a son born July 7.

Reinbeck to get 100 Mexicans to assist in detasseling for Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Co.

Corp. Charles Egan was killed in action while doing maneuvers at Camp Polk, La. on July 10.

Marian Billman & Harold Babcock of Des Moines were married June 11.
