The Gladbrook-Reinbeck high school student body appreciates everyone that came out to SuppOhrt the Noah Ohrt Neon 5k and 1m Family Fun Walk on Friday night June 21st. The event was the third in a series of fundraisers designed to raise money for the Noah Ohrt family as Noah continues to battle Ewing's Sarcoma. The 1 mile Family Fun Walk was held on the high school track while the 5K race weaved its way through the streets of Reinbeck. Upcoming junior Moriah Hoeppner kicked off the event with opening remarks and presented Kathy Ohrt, Noah's mother, with a bouquet of yellow flowers; yellow represents the type of cancer Noah is fighting. All the participants encircled the Ohrt family on the soccer field as Pastor Rob Saak from New Life church gave the invocation followed by the playing of the National Anthem. The race kicked off in hot and muggy conditions, but went smoothly with excellent support from the Reinbeck Fire Department, providing safety and medical assistance on the race course. G-R students were also on the course directing runners and providing assistance to the finish line. The combined efforts of our communities, our G-R students, volunteers and many sponsors made this event a success.
