JULY 3, 2003

Kyle Weber, 2001 graduate of G-R, has been called to active duty on March 15.

Tim Sweet, Reinbeck attorney, has been elected to the Iowa State Bar Association Board of Governors. He will serve a two year term beginning June 17.

Ben Clapp, 81 Dike, died June 26 at the Grundy Co. Hospital.

Patricia Rieke, 72, Grundy Center, died June 27 at the Grundy Co. Hospital.

Olinda Bulthuis, 89, Cedar Falls, died June 30 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer.

Wayne W. Dake, 82, Reinbeck, died June 30 at the Grundy Co. Hospital.

Christopher Draffen and daughters Emily & Sarah are appearing in the Waterloo Playhouse production of "The Music Man" to be presented on July 8-26 at the Hope Martin Theater.


JULY 7, 1993

Reinbeck City Council okays lot sale to Lincoln Savings Bank subject to public hearing.

Russell Sindt, 87, formerly of Reinbeck died June 24.

Ryan Helling, 5 months old son of Mr. & Mrs. Randall Helling died June 21.

Louis Staker, Jr., 78, Gladbrook, died June 29 at Allen Hospital.

Joel Earnest & Kristine Krause were married June 19.

Christine Sherner & Melvin James Bowen were married on May 8.

Janet Hilt & Greg Trepp were married April 3.

Chris Petersen, Reinbeck, recently explored the nation's capitol as part of the annual Iowa Rural Electric Youth Tour.


JULY 8, 1983

Gale Peterson parked his car on an incline behind Oak Leaf Country Clubhouse when his park gear gave away. The car rolled down a steep incline backward landing in Black Hawk creek.

Mr. & Mrs. Mike Fitzgerald, Des Moines, are parents of a daughter born July 1.

Helen Bowman, 71, Reinbeck, died July 3.

Class of 1933 had their 35 class reunion.


JULY, 1973

Jim Creswell, 18, son of Mr. & Mrs. Roger Creswell of Reinbeck, was taken to Schoitz Hospital for treatment of severe electrical shock. He received the shock from a 220 volt, 2 phase power line at Reinbeck Canning Co.

Sandra J. Wiarda & James W. Ward, Jr. were married July 1 at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center.

Deborah M. Schultz & Randy Reisinger were married June 9 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

Ercell Ladd & Gary Steinbron were married June 23 at the Falls Ave. Methodist Church in Waterloo.

Carl Sebbert, 78, died at Gladbrook Nursing Home.


JULY, 1963

Ralph Moore, 48, rural Grundy Center, ran into a flock of sheep killing 1 sheep and injuring several others. The sheep belonged to Lawrence Rohach.

Lani Jo Gill took first place honors at the Class A Baton Twirling contest in Minneapolis.

Mrs. Vern Kyhl, 50, wife of State Senator Kyhl, died July 9 at Parkersburg.

Mrs. Floyd Barfels, 51, died July 4th.

Charles Goodman, Reinbeck, to open a law office in Grundy Center.


JULY, 53

Pete Jacobsen, Reinbeck, who resigned July 6 rescinded his action and will complete his term.

Mirian Reed, Morrison & Lloyd Johnson, were married July 3.

Reinbeck was undamaged as a tornado storm moved over the area. There was a lot of rain & hail. The storm traveled northeast with 100 miles winds leaving a path of destruction around Waterloo/Cedar Falls.

Mr. & Mrs. Stanley O'Kones of Wellsburg are parents of a son born July 8.

Mr. & Mrs Leeward Albert are parents of a son born July 2.

Mr. & Mrs. Roscoe Jones are parents of a daughter born June 30.


JULY, 1943

Private Lois Snow has completed boot camp training with the U.S. Marine Corps Womens Reserve.

Paul Robertson as been promoted to Staff Sergeant.

Mr. & Mrs. Maurice Beale are parents of a daughter born July 2.

Mr. & Mrs. Frank Hooper are parents of a son born July 5.

Herman Koster, 55, Gladbrook carpenter, tumbled from a roof at the Pioneer Plant and fell 16 ft. to a concrete floor. He suffered a fractured pelvis and broken ribs.

Ward Jackson, IE Light & Power Co., fell 30 ft. from a utility pole near Buckingham but didn't receive any injuries.
