Hook up the boat and dust off the tackle box, it's time to get fishing. I'm sure many of you have already had your line in the water and if you haven't then what are you waiting for? The annual fishing derby is set for June 15 from 6 AM to 1 PM at the Grundy County lake near Dike.
The Grundy County Conservation Board has put on this fishing derby for the past six years and the derby has proved to be a great success each year. Our 7th annual derby is once again sponsored by Peoples Savings Bank in Dike. We greatly appreciate their support towards the Grundy County lake and this event.
The lake provides easy access fishing for all ages with a handicap accessible dock and four fishing jetties. It also has an asphalt bike trail that travels around the entire lake and out to our new 60 site campground complete with showers, restrooms and dump station. The Grundy County lake has a lot to offer, and what better time to check it out then on June 15th for our annual fishing derby.
The fishing derby is a great chance to get out and enjoy the outdoors. It also provides the perfect opportunity to get a kid out fishing. Our lake has great fishing with easy access and kids have a chance at winning many door prizes. There is a minimal entry fee for the derby, so why not bring a kid out fishing? The derby is catch and release only so bring your buckets to keep the fish alive. It starts at 6 AM and ends at 2 PM. There will be prizes for the biggest bass, bluegill and catfish along with many door prizes. We hope to see you out at the lake on Saturday, June 15.
