After considering 13 pool designs and 19 bathhouse designs planners of proposed acquatic center for Reinbeck have settled on a plan estimated at costing $2.6 million.

Elaine M. "Rich" Davis, 65, Stout, died May 6 at Allen Hospital.

John W. Hooper, 93, Reinbeck, died May 8 at Parkview Manor.

Mr. & Mrs. Merle Claussen will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary on June 12.

Mr. & Mrs. Burdette Moeller will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 12.

Carmen Koth & Ronald Stephan were married on May 1 at Community Presbyterian Church in Postville.

Raymond Thiel, 66, Reinbeck, died May 26 at his home.

Lloyd "Bud" Dreesman, Grundy Center, died May 24 at Allen Hospital.

Ruth Esther Miller, Reinbeck, died May 27 at Allen Hospital.

Thomas Hyde, 71, formerly of Reinbeck, died May 24 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.


MAY 24, 1983

Geoffrey Moser, partner in Moser Enterprises, has accepted a position of advertising manager and sales director for the Independence, Iowa newspaper.

Matilda Karkosh, Reinbeck, won $500 at Ernie's Super Valu bankroll drawing.

Lisa Cooper and Michael Thompson were married on May 21.

Lt. James Evans, son of Mr. & Mrs. Cooper Evans, was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant upon graduation from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and was awarded a Bachelor's Degree in economics.

Lt. Jeffrey Lau, son of Mr. & Mrs. David Lau, Gladbrook, was commissioned 2nd lieutenant from West Point on May 25. He was awarded a Bachelor's Degree in computer science.

James Ritchey, 86, Morrison, died May 31.

Lorene Paustain, 58, Gladbrook, died at Marshalltown Hospital on May 28.


MAY, 1973

Wayne Bean, 54, Reinbeck business man, suffered a heart attack at his home and was taken to Schoitz Hospital and remains in intensive care.

Mr. & Mrs. Loyd Plaehn will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on June 10.

Victoria Lockhart and James Plaehn were married on May 26 at Queen of Heaven Church in Reinbeck.

Ella Hall, 85, Reinbeck died June 4 at Parkview Gardens Nursing Home in Waterloo.

Susan Gunderson & Gordon Johannsen exchanged marriage vows on May 26 at Liscomb Church of Christ.

Thelma Meester, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. August Meester, Parkersburg, was selected as 1973 Grundy Co. Dairy Princess.


MAY, 1963

On June 2, Merle Willer made the first "hole-in-one" at Oakleaf Country Club on hole #6 using a No.1 wood.

Jack Snyder, son of Ella Snyder, was promoted to Major at Baumholder, Germany. Jack will complete 20 years in Nov.

Jane Cavanaugh & David Bystricky were married on June 1.

Cecil Little, Grundy Center, and Alice Pigg of Lander, PA. were married on May 29 in Reinbeck.

Dr. James Mueller, 55, was killed in a plane crash following a visit to Reinbeck.

Jerry Speicher, Wellsburg, 67, former Grundy County Supervisor, died May 31.

Earl Brandhorst, 42, Cedar Falls, died of burns received in a fuel explosion while wrecking a car.

Mr. & Mrs. Lyle Hildebrand will observe their 30th wedding anniversary on June 7.

Mr. & Mrs. Harlan Ramundt are parents of a daughter born June 3.


MAY, 1953

Margaret DeWolf & Lieutenant Jack Kenney were married on May 29.

Mr. & Mrs. Earl Dinsdale are parents of a son born May 28.

Mr. & Mrs. Burdell Staker, Traer, are parents of a son born May 28.

Mrs. Warren Hall, proprietor of Donna's Beauty Shop, is announcing she will close the shop on July 3.


MAY, 1943

Virgil Vern, 3 month old son of Mr. & Mrs. Claude Hoeg, died June 1.

LaVon Lage & Dale Hulme were married on June 2.

Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Stum are parents of a daughter.
