The boys and girls track teams traveled to BCLUW for the first outdoor meet of the year. The weather has been less than ideal, but Thursday provided one of the few nice days we have had thus far. This was an outstanding meet for both teams to get their feet wet in the competition within the NICL. Perennial power Dike-New Hartford was present, as was ever-reliable BCLUW. We knew this would give us a good indication as to where we stood.
The night began on a very strong note for the boys in the field events. Zach Pierce won the shot put on a throw of 40' 7". Chase Clark won the high jump with a leap of 6' 2". And Joe Zimmerman was runner-up in the discus with a throw of 106'.
The girls team got off on a solid foot in the running events with a 3rd place finish in the 100M dash by Kendra Vavroch. Ellie Stoakes was gold medalist in the 200M and 400M dashes.
This was a great start for both teams. We needed to run on a track and see where we stood against some competition. As always, we will work to improve throughout the season and finish strong when it counts. We have plenty of work to do with our field events and relays, so we are very optimistic as to what the future holds.
