MARCH 6, 2003

Jeff Billerbeck, Reinbeck, has been invited to receive the 2002 Trophy Buck Print Award at the annual Eastern Iowa Sport Show scheduled for March 14-16 at UNI.

Grundy County Sheriff's Dept. warns of drug paraphernalia dangers.

Fred Strohbehn presents Vernon Miller with a metal sign signifying four generations of Strohbehns that Miller has worked for over the past 39 years.

Mr. & Mrs. Brian Weber are parents of a daughter born Feb. 17.

Rev. John Graham, 91, founder of Queen of Heaven Church, died Feb. 5.


MARCH 4, 1993

Chris Barfels, 98, Beaman, died Feb. 26 at the Grundy Co. Memorial Hospital.

Freeda Saathoff, 3, Dike, died Feb. 23 at Sartori Hospital.

Ernie Maasen, 73, Gladbrook, died Feb. 27 of a heart attack.

Walter Folkerts, 78, Reinbeck, died March 2 from failing health.

Mr. & Mrs. Grant Schildroth are parents of a daughter born Feb. 20.

Mr. & Mrs. Doug Roberts of Citrus Heights, Calif. are parents of a daughter born Nov. 16.


MARCH, 1983

Mr. & Mrs. Bob Strohbehn, Huron, S.D. are parents of a daughter born March 6.

Mr. & Mrs. Brent Coulter, Traer, are parents of a daughter born March 3.

Minnie Barfels, 92, Gladbrook, and most recently of Reinbeck, died Feb. 28.

Annie Heronimus, 88, Holland, died March 6.

Fred Walbaum, 68, Grundy Center, died March 3.


MARCH, 1973

Mr. & Mrs. Howard Corwin have purchased a lot on the corner of Park & Commercial and plan to build a new home.

Dean Fliescher, 79, Reinbeck, died of a heart attack on March 13.

Mrs. Emil Wrage died of a heart attack while in Phoenix, Ariz. on March 4.

Chuck Patten, wrestling coach at UNI will be the guest speaker at the annual Athletic Banquet that will be held on March 28 at the Reinbeck Memorial Bldg.

Lloyd Davis received the Gold Bar Sales Award at a recent Nutrena Feeds dealer award banquet held at Clear Lake, Iowa.


MARCH, 1963

Ralph Johnson, 65, postmasters at Hudson, died on March 6.

Harm Sparenborg, 76, Cedar Falls, formerly of Reinbeck, died March 10.

Wellsburg girls basketball team wound up as runner ups in the girls tourney in Des Moines as they were defeated by Guthrie Center 76 to 69.

Patty J. Petersen, Mickey & Terry Ericksen received the coveted "Curved Bar" award which is the highest rank in the Intermediate Girl Scout Program.

Dr. & Mrs. John Jacquis are parents of a son born March 12.

Mr. & Mrs. Marvin Yockstick are parents of a son born March 12.

Mr. & Mrs. Vern Knaack are parents of a daughter born March 7.


MARCH, 1953

Four Reinbeck Boy Scouts-Denny Dirks, Marvin Petersen, Mike Roberts and Gary Nash plan to attend the National Jamboree held at the Irvine Ranch in Calif.

Lindsay Keith was defeated for bid to the Grundy Co. Board of Education by 112 votes.

Mr. & Mrs. Richard Ohrt are parents of a son born March 7.

Marian Mulder became the bride of PVT G. Heckroth on March 8.

June Lorenzen & Roger Miehkle of Sturgeon Bay, Wis. have announced their engagement and approaching marriage.


MARCH, 1943

Ruby Redfearn, Hudson, and Leo Rhoades of Cedar Falls were married on March 3.

Doris Horning, 21, Reinbeck, joined the WAACS.

Toby Larsen, Sr. was injured while helping at the Toby Larsen, Jr. farm home when he fell from a hay mow.

Carl Schneider, Jr., 28, is reported as missing in action on the African front.

Mr. & Mrs. John Buhman are parents of a daughter born March 4.

Mr. & Mrs. Karl Hoppe are parents of a daughter born Feb. 27.
