Cedar Falls, Iowa Alzheimer's disease is life-changing for both those who are diagnosed and those close to them. Support groups provide a safe place to connect with other caregivers who truly understand and share similar feelings. The Alzheimer's Association East Central Iowa Chapter is currently seeking knowledgeable and compassionate volunteers to facilitate Caregiver Support Groups throughout the area.

Caregiver Support Groups provide an opportunity for family members and caregivers to meet and develop a mutual support system that will help maintain their health and well-being. The Alzheimer's Association strives to offer a non-threatening environment where families can find the comfort and support they deserve. Volunteer support group facilitators are trained to familiarize people with local resources and provide consistent support and up-to-date information to their group members.

The Alzheimer's Association is offering a free training for those interested in facilitating or co-facilitating an Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group in their community. Support Group Facilitator trainings will be held on Monday, March 4th in Cedar Rapids and on Wednesday, March 6th in Cedar Falls. Both trainings will take place at the local Alzheimer's Association office from noon-4:00 p.m. Coffee and snacks will be provided. Pre-registration and application is required for all training attendees. For more information or to register please call Christine at 319-277-4100 or email
