The 2013 Relay For Life event is scheduled for Friday, June 14th starting at 6 p.m. at the Grundy Center High School Track. The Grundy County Relay For Life planning committee is urging county residents to get a team together so we can pack the track. Why do we walk? We walk to save more lives by helping people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back against a disease that two Iowans every hour are diagnosed with.
A new American Cancer Society report, released last month shows a 20% decline in cancer mortality from its peak in 1991, translating to the avoidance of approximately 1.2 million deaths from cancer. That is more than 400 more birthdays celebrated every day. According to the Union for International Cancer Control every year, 7.6 million lives are lost to cancer worldwide, more than AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined.
Now is a good time to get your relay team together. For information on forming a team or to get a team packet contact Caryn McMartin at 319-825-2409 or at firstname.lastname@example.org or in the Dike area contact Karen Ehmen at 319-464-2363 or email@example.com
