The Black Hawk Nighthawks 4-H Club held their regular monthly meeting on February 10th, and the roll call was "say something red".
We talked about the omelet breakfast, which will be held on March 17th. There were sign-up sheets for bringing items to, and volunteering at the omelet breakfast. This year there will also be a raffle at the omelet breakfast. Our club will be selling raffle tickets: 1 for $1.00 or 6 for $5.00. The proceeds will go to our club. We put together baskets filled with oranges, apples, and sweets as a thank-you to the schools for letting us hold our meetings there. Malissa reminded members that there will be FSQA (Food Safety Quality Assurance) classes offered at the Hawkeye Community Center on February 18th from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., February 23rd from 9:30 - 11:30 am, April 8th from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., and April 27th from 9:30 11:30 am. This class is required to show most animals at the fair.
Malissa Martin talked about the history of the 4-H pledge and the motions that are done as the pledge is recited. Josey Davis did a presentation on NFR (National Finals Rodeo). Emma Fleshner did a presentation on the Pony Express. Bonnie Shinn showed us how to make Valentine's Day cards, and provided supplies so we could make our own.
Club members with the school thank you baskets.
Our next meeting will be on Sunday, March 17th (which is at the end of Spring Break and the same day as the omelet breakfast) at 5:00 p.m. at the Reinbeck Elementary building.
