Time out

February 17, 2013
Coach Bailey , Reinbeck Courier

Monday, February 13th the Rebels traveled to Hudson for a game that was postponed just before Christmas. Hudson has an excellent ball club and they came away with a 73-39 victory. The first and fourth quarters have been a problem for the Rebels all year! The Pirates outscored us 34-6 in those two quarters. The second and third quarters were played virtually even. We will need to play four complete quarters this Saturday when we take on Jesup in the first round of tournaments!

Emily Snider was the only Rebel to get to double figures in scoring as she finished with 14 points. Amber Berendes scored 7, Erin Wentzien 6, Britney Keller 5, Hayley Weber 3, Nicole Adair 2, and Hanna Christopher 2.

Jesup

This was a physical, hard fought game that the Rebels came up just short in by the score of 69-65. As I've said before these kids play hard and never quit. We trailed for much of the first three quarters and were down by as many as 12 points a couple of times. The Rebels battled back and took a 51-47 lead at the end of the third quarter, we just could not finish of the J-Hawks as they out scored us 22-14 in the fourth quarter!

Erin Wentzien had a career night in scoring as she finished with 20 points, which included 5 three-pointers. Amber Berendes finished with 13, Nicole Adair 10, Taylor Flamme 8, Emily Snider 7, Hayley Weber 3, Britney Keller 2, and Bailea Evenson 2. You can view all Rebel stats at quikstatsiowa.com.

I want to acknowledge my seniors, Emily Snider, Erin Wentzien, Taylor Flamme and Allysen White for all their hard work over the last four years. You will be greatly missed. Our managers were Callie Kuehl and Moriah Hoeppner. They kept everything running smoothly on game nights. Tom Boheman and Danielle Clark did a lot both in practice and in games. These two did a terrific job and it was a pleasure to coach with them. Finally to the underclassmen, you have an opportunity to be a very good basketball team in the years to come. I saw you grow as individuals and as a team as the year progressed. Keep working hard and good things will come your way!
