Linda Betsinger McCann will speak at the Dike library on Monday, February 25, at 6 p.m., about all her books, including The Cedar Valley Road and the series on the Vanished Towns of the Cedar Valley. Linda has also began working on Lost Grundy County and may have some questions for the audience. Everyone is invited and there is no admission charge.
Linda has written twenty books ranging from genealogies, biographies, and local history. She has done on different aspects of Shell Rock history for the Shell Rock Historical Society. These books are available at the Shell Rock Library with profits going to the Historical Society. The Iowan Books publishes her Lost Butler, Bremer and Black Hawk County books plus the book on the electric train that ran between Waverly and Cedar Rapids. Linda will have copies of these books for sale at the Dike Library.
The Lost Series of books deals with named locations within each county that no longer exist and are not on maps. Linda found 104 names in Black Hawk County. She has begun working in Grundy County.
Linda is a Bremer County native and found 94 named locations in Bremer County. She was surprised how little she knew about these areas with growing up in the county.
