The week of January 20th saw the Rebels win two and lose one ballgame. The Rebels defeated Jesup 62-56, lost to West Marshall 75-44, and beat North Tama 61-53.
The Jesup game was closely contested with no one with a lead bigger than 4 points until the 2:30 mark in the fourth quarter. That was the point in the game where the System finally got to the J-Hawks. The Rebels stole the ball three times in a row and scored! Jesup called a time out to regain their composure and get a rest. Again the Rebels stole the ball twice in a row and scored. That sequence helped seal the win!
Erin Wentzien and Hanna Christopher led the scoring with 12 points each. Taylor Flamme followed with 10, Bailea Evenson 6, Nicole Adair 6, Emily Snider 5, Hayley Weber 5, Ellie Stoakes 4, and Britney Keller 2.
West Marshall had too much for the Rebels and led from start to finish in this ballgame. There are several outstanding ball teams in our conference and the Trojans are definitely one of them.
Hayley Weber finished with 11 points, Erin Wentzien 9, Emily Snider 8, Nicole Adair 6, Hanna Christopher 3. With 2 each were Britney Keller, Bailea Evenson, and Ellie Stokes. Rounding out the scoring with 1 point was Taylor Flamme.
The next night North Tams came to town. The Rebels led from start to finish in this hard fought ballgame. We were able to build a 16-point lead in the middle of the fourth quarter. The Redhawks were able to cut that in half but could get no closer. We need to play smarter and stronger in those types of situations.
Emily Snider had a nice scoring night as she finished with 18 points for the game. Erin Wentzien added 14, Taylor Flamme 9, Hayley Weber 5, Hanna Christopher 5, Ellie Stoakes 4, Britney Keller 2, Nicole Adair 2, and Kyleah Dugan 2.
