The Booster Club

February 3, 2013
Emily Snider - Editorial Intern , Reinbeck Courier

Do you ever wonder how the local sports teams get such stylish uniforms? Well, the Booster Club is the group that makes this all possible. They allow the sports teams to get new uniforms and many other useful things. "The things purchased for the 2012-2013 school year were cheerleading warmups, volleyball AirKat and an Endzone camera," states Booster Club board member Helen Adair. They also fund Hudl.com, which is a website that allows the football players to watch tapes of themselves and of opposing teams.

The Booster Club's Board has 12 members including; Lora Dinsdale (President), Mark Flamme (Vice President), Carol Christopher (Secretary), John Olson & Jeff Charley (Athletic Director), Beth Miller (Treasurer), Helen Adair, Brett Miller, Sara Shouse, Bob Heise, Tammi Pierce, Chad Kickbush, Tracy Eiffler, and Lori Knaack. They meet once a month to discuss upcoming events.

The Booster Club holds an annual golf outing at Oakleaf Country Club in Reinbeck. Anybody can golf if they want to, and it is a great fundraiser. Helen Adair says, "There are great prizes that can be won like jackets, shirts, oil changes, hats, balls and tons of gift certificates." This is just one of the many fundraisers held by this group.

They also sell merchandise like pajama pants, jackets, sweatshirts, t-shirts, shorts, sweatpants, blankets, hats, seats, candles and pocket calendars. They do two online orders a year for this merchandise. The pocket calendars are great for carrying around to make appointments with. There are also meals, held by the board members, during many of the basketball games like walking tacos and maid rites.

G-R is fortunate to have a great group of people like this. The athletes wouldn't be able to be where they are without them. So remember, when you see a board member around, don't forget to tell them thanks for all that they do for the athletes and school.
