Wayne Hasek receives the Warren Coleman award presented by Ron Donald, Lion's District Governor, in recognition of his commitment to serving for the Lions.

The following Lion's received Chevrons for their years of membership in Reinbeck Lion's Club. Honored were Bill Bowen-40 years; Roger Thede-40 years; Harold Storjohann-30 years; Arlyn Billerbeck-30 years; Ron Marten-30 years; Allen Stickfort-15 years and Chris Frischmeyer-15 years.

John Lobse has graduated from network switching systems operations-maintainer advanced individual training course at Fort Gordon, Augusta, Ga.

Vera Backen, 98, died Jan. 22 at her daughter's home.

Frances Sievert, 83, Grundy Center, died Jan. 20 at the Grundy County Hospital.

George Kremenak, 91, died Jan. 24 at Sunrise Care Center in Traer.

Edna A. Jans, 85, died Jan. 23 at Covenant Medical Center.

Florence E. Davis, 92, died Jan. 5 at a care center in Durango.

Mary Jo Blackcloud, 48, died Jan. 26 at Marshalltown Medical Center.

FEB. 1993

Owen Newlin , 64, will retire as senior vice-president at Pioneer. He will be replaced by Wayne Beck.

Luella DeWolf, 80, Reinbeck, died Jan. 28.

Joe Bailey, 77 Conrad, died Jan. 30 of a stroke.

Emma Freese, 96, Gladbrook, died Jan. 27.

Ora Meyer will celebrate her 90th birthday on Feb. 7 at Parkview Manor.

Mr. & Mrs. Greg Harms are parents of a son born Jan. 22.

Mr. & Mrs. Hank Ford of Tahlequah, Okla. are parents of a daughter born Jan., 23.

Mr. & Mrs. Rick Stavely are parents of a daughter born Feb. 2.

Mr. & Mrs. Randy Rhoades have purchased a home on Upper Ridge for $26,500.

Bliss K. Willoughby pleaded guilty to five counts of mishandling money entrusted to him. He has surrendered his license to practice law.

JoAnn Klang and Joseph Karkosh were married on Jan. 19 at the United Church of Christ in Reinbeck.

Patricia Sharar and William Ladd were married on Jan. 26 at the United Church of Christ.

Mr. & Mrs. Bruce Keller are parents of a son born Feb. 12 at Sartori Hospital.

John C. Strohbehn, 76, died Feb. 9 in a Fort Lauderdale, Fla. hospital of kidney failure and complications of a heart attack.

The Reinbeck Theatre Guild will present "Plaza Suite" on Feb. 23, 24 & 25.

Orla Hite will hold a closing out sale on Feb. 22.

FEB . 1963

Gordon Horstman has been named to the student scholastic honor roll at the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

Cloyd Frey, 80, Reinbeck suffered a heart attack.

Lillian Rosenberger fell and fractured her left arm.

Reinbeck's oldest male resident, Ernest Vittum, 89, died Feb. 12.

Don Meyer, Reinbeck High School graduate, was elected President of the student body of Iowa State Un. on Feb. 8.

David Hite became entangled in a silo unloader at the home of Orla Hite. He suffered a broken arm and cuts and bruises. A heavy coat saved him from further injury.

Howard Pollard who formerly operated the Reinbeck Theatre died of a heart attack in Armstrong, Iowa.

Mr. & Mrs. Max Kelly are parents of a son.

Mr. & Mrs. Allen Weeks are parents of a daughter born Feb. 11.

Mr. & Mrs. Loren Lorenzsen are parents of a daughter.

JANUARY, 1953

Braasch & Sullivan convicted of murder in Utah as the high court ruled against them for the Oct. 1949 killing.

Mr. & Mrs. Paul Plaehn are parents of a daughter born Feb. 9.

Mr. & Mrs. George Carmen are parents of a son born Feb. 6.

Mr. & Mrs. Russell Willer are parents of a son born Feb. 8.

Mr. & Mrs. Verne Bolin are parents of a son born Feb. 7.

Marlene Willer & Ray Peters were married on Feb. 6.

Patricia Kelly became the bride of Charles Biebersheimer on Feb. 7.

Alleen Biebersheimer was united in marriage to Edward Niemeyer on Feb. 11.

Marlys Jans, Reinbeck junior, won first place in district declamatory contest.

Sarah Barker, 88, died in Marshalltown. She started the first Sunday School in Berlin. Her family came to the United States in 1867 and they settled at old Buckingham.
