Norman Ray Arends

"Storm'n" Norman Ray Arends, 71, of Dike, succumbed to the trials of life on January 15, 2013 at the Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo, Iowa. A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the Dike United Methodist Church in Dike. Inurnment followed the service at the Stout Cemetery. Norman was born in Fern, Iowa July 24, 1941. He graduated from Dike High School in 1959. He served in the United States Army where he received an Honorable Discharge. He served on the Waterloo, Iowa Sheriffs Dept., was Police Chief in New Hartford, Iowa., volunteered on the Dike, Iowa and Reinbeck, Iowa Fire Departments as a Hazmat/EMT and retired from Traer Manufacturing. He helped out on the Parkersburg Fire Department until he was unable to do so.

He is survived by his 4 children Rodney Grandon (Lori) Va. , Ann Ceaser (Rick)-Texas, David Arends- Iowa, and Julie Junker (Terry)-Iowa, 11 Grand Children, Heather Watkins (Ray) W.Va., Maggie Grandon N.C., Alex Grandon Va., Christopher Ceaser (Marie)-Texas, Crystal Hanson (Eric)-Iowa, Nicole Arends (James)-Iowa, Jessica Ceaser Texas, Tamiko Kelley - Iowa, Hailey Junker - Iowa, Emilee Junker - Iowa, Jacob Junker - Iowa and 5 Great Grandchildren, Kevin Hanson - Iowa, Leila Ceaser Texas, Logan Hanson Iowa, Kingston Ceaser - Texas, , Mackenzie Kleiner Iowa, and 1 sister Lynda Berry (Bob) Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Arends, mother Angeline Arends and brother Roger Arends.
