An educational program sponsored by Iowa State University Extension and Ellsworth Community College for Iowa youth involved with beef production will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Ellsworth Agriculture and Renewable Energy Center, Hwy 65 south, at 705 Ellsworth Ave., Iowa Falls, Iowa. The youth program will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with registration beginning at 9:00 a.m.
A variety of interactive workshops and sessions are being planned for youth 4th grade through high school who register for this event. Topics this year will focus on the use of high technology in beef production. They will take a closer look at retinal and ultrasound scanning, electronic ID tags and genetics (yes, there's an app for that!).
There is no cost for youth to attend and a noon lunch will be provided. Parents are welcome to stay. Please pre-register at your local ISU County Extension Office by January 28th. Registration forms are available on line at www.extension.iastate.edu/franklin. For more information contact the Franklin County Extension Office at 641-456-4811.
