Last Thursday, the American Red Cross was in Reinbeck at the Memorial Building for the semi-annual Reinbeck Community Blood Drive. Forty-three donors came during this very busy holiday season to donate blood to those in need of blood products.
Every time someone gives blood, they are giving a special gift that can offer someone hope - hope for today, hope for tomorrow, hope for the future. Every donation may help save up to three lives. Patients don't get to take a holiday from needing blood. Loyal Reinbeck donors answered the call.
The Red Cross selected this blood drive to give something back to the donors and helpers. There was a drawing for four $25.00 Visa gift cards. The lucky winners were Delane Thede, Julie Petersen, Adam Staker and Sue Messerly.
The high school students will sponsor a Red Cross Blood Drive in the spring, and there will be another community drive in July. Watch for information and dates for these important upcoming community events. There is always a need for blood - the gift of life.
