Memorial Hospital announces scholarship opportunities for seven-$1,000 healthcare career scholarships to be awarded for the 2012-2013 school year.

Wildflower, Reinbeck's new floral shop, opens for business on Main St.

Celebrations-Nicole May and Tyler Lyon exchanged wedding vows on Oct. 22, 2011 in Des Moines.

Obituaries-Gail Buskohl, 89, Lincoln, passed away on Jan. 31 at the Grundy Co, Memorial Hospital. Steward Heiken, 63, Holland, died Feb. 1 at his home in Holland.

Celebrations-Allison R. Volkens graduated Cum Laude on Dec. 17 from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan. Morgan Harris has the lead role in Phantom of the Opera in Papillion-LaVista High School in Neb. John Etringer, G-R junior, has been accepted to the National Academy of Arts, Sciences and Engineering at the University of Iowa. Sarah Draffen, Reinbeck, is one of the seven finalist at the Spotlight Series Concert Finals on March 26 at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center at UNI.

Headlines-Reinbeck Elementary students put on a Read Across Challenge. Each class had a different goal to achieve. If the students accomplished their goals, they were allowed to make an ice cream sundae on Principal Kuehl's head and they did it. Triplet calves were born on Jeff Billerbeck's farm and all are doing well.

Celebrations-UNI student, Sarah Draffen, will present a shared junior recital with Acacia Scott on April 24 at Davis Hall. LSB supports the troops by sending supplies to Afghanistan. Pony Express stops in Morrison on April 7 where local residents prepared breakfast for the group. Grundy Co. Memorial Hospital celebrates national medical laboratory professionals week.

On Sunday March 11th Katie Ryherd was honored in Des Moines at the Iowa History Museum for a painting that she did for youth art month.

Headlines-G-R's 2012 prom held on April 21 at Amvets in Lincoln. Two long distance hikers, Barry and Julie passed through Reinbeck on April 23. They are walking the American Discovery Trail that starts in Delaware and ends in Calif. They started walking on Feb. 1. Grundy Co. Memorial Hospital announces scholarship opportunities.

Celebrations-Naomi DeBerg will celebrate her 90th birthday on May 6. Mr. & Mrs. Vern Knaack will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on May 5 and will celebrate with a family vacation later this year.

Headlines-Local FFA member, Nicholas Grunklee received his American FFA Degree from the National President Ron Best at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis on Oct. 27. Reinbeck kindergarten students honored the Veterans with a display at the Reinbeck Memorial Bldg. A one vehicle accident on Nov. 12 when LaRae Hayes, 23, Grundy Center dropped off a shoulder on 190th Street. She was transported to the Grundy County Hospital with minor injuries.

Headlines-Wind farm project nearly completed in Gladbrook area. Twenty-one Iowans named to Iowa Corn Leadership. Three Cedar Valley Hospice volunteers: Sonja Wilhau, Alice Hansen and Mary J. Kane were honored for volunteering. Rhonda Deters took the Oath of Office as Grundy County Auditor on Nov. 13.

Celebrations-Mr. & Mrs. Justin Farley are parents of a son born Oct. 29. Mr. & Mrs. Caleb Hamer of Buckingham are parents of a daughter born on Nov. 5.

Headlines-Vernon Johnson, Wellsburg, Dorothy Sheller of Eldora and Brandon Sowers of Parkersburg, were elected to Grundy Co. Extension Council in the Nov. 6 election. Dr. Jerrold Keith, head of the Plastic Surgery Team at the Un. of Iowa made news recently when he and his surgical team replaced the hand of Roger Batchelder of LaPorte City after his hand was severed in a chain saw accident. He is the son of Richard & Diane Keith of Preston, Minn. and the grandson of Marlys Keith of Reinbeck.

Celebrations-Pamela Delagardelle has been named president and CEO of Allen Health System eff. Jan. 1, 2013. Tom Tibbitts, will retire on Dec. 31, 2012.

Obituary-Michael J. McCarthy, 49, Waterloo, passed away Nov. 17 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

Celebrations-David Hook & Amy Bennett were married on Oct. 20 at Pine Lake Lodge in Eldora. Rev. Terry & Rev. Robyn Plocher will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. They were married Dec. 12, 1982.

American Legion & Auxiliary honor war vets of the Korean War at the annual Christmas Party on Nov 26.

Celebrations-Jill Schildroth is honored for her stats on the volleyball team at Central College in Pella.

Headlines-Lisa Zinkula is appointed Interium CEO of Grundy County Memorial Hospital. Christmas Spectacular was held on Dec. 9th with a large crowd attending. In January the 63rd Dorian Vocal Festival will be held in Decorah.

Six students from G-R have been accepted which includes Cortney Crozier. Breanna Schlichtmann, Erin Wentzien, Aaron Shouse, Sadie Walton and Shelby Yates.

Celebrations-Mr. & Mrs. Trent Mennenga are parents of a son, Blake Charles, born on Nov. 26. Todd Wical and Kimberly Chaffin announce their upcoming wedding on May 11 in Spencer, Iowa. Merle Rittgers celebrates his 80th birthday on Dec. 27 with a card shower. Rising Sun Karate in Parkersburg will hold promotion ceremony on Dec. 15.
