"Dollars for Scholars" tour of homes will be on Dec. 8. The following homes will be on display: Darrell & Jeanne Paustain, David & Geri Eilers, Georgette Edel and Jerry & Jan Schultz.

Mr. & Mrs. David Spiers will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 7 with a family dinner.

Merle Meyer, 68, Holland died Nov. 29 at the Marshalltown Hospital.

Lisa Helland, accounting/marketing major, was elected Communication Director on the executive board of Collegiate Panhellic Council CPC at Iowa State.

Grundy County Sheriff responded to a one vehicle accident on Dec. 2 on Hwy #20. Robert Christensen, 43, Cedar Falls, was taken to Grundy Hospital with undetermined injuries.

Mr. & Mrs. Jerod Sadler are parents of a daughter born Nov. 26

DECEMBER 10, 1992

According to news sources GM Manufacturing of Eldora will be closing its operation on Dec. 18 as they are moving to Reinbeck.

Florence Roberts, 77, Bettendorf, died Nov. 28 at St. Luke's in Davenport.

Leota Miller, 90, Reinbeck, died Dec. 6 at the Grundy Co. Hospital.

Elizabeth Deeley, 84, Reinbeck, died Dec. 2 at Allen Hospital.

DEC. 1982

Mr. & Mrs. Alan Bachman of Covington, La. are parents of a son born Dec. 8.

Alfrieda Shoup, 90, Waterloo, died Dec. 10.

Airman Ricky Trask of Traer has been assigned to Sheppard Air Force base in Texas after completing Air Force basic training.

Pioneer Hi-Bred, the nations leading seed corn co., pledged more than $600,000 in grants to three organizations working to expand grain and soybeans exports.

DECEMBER, 1972

Paul M. Stevenson, 83, died Dec. 11 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer.

Lauren J. Smith, 32, New Hartford, was critically injured by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He is listed in critical but stable condition.

Julie J. Johnson, 63, Dike, was killed in a two car collision on Hwy #57 east of Dike on Dec. 15.

Mr. Mrs. Delbert VanHauen, Holland, are parents of a son born Dec. 14.

Mr. & Mrs. Allan Jans, Ozard, Ala., are parents of a son born Dec. 13.

Mr. & Mrs. Robert Eslinger are parents of a daughter born Dec. 17.

Iowa Hwy Commission will provide a new paved road thru Reinbeck replacing the badly deteriorated Hwy #175. The 11 mile road project will cost $353,040. Reinbeck will be responsible for $114,359.

Joseph Slight-Ball, 19, Waterloo, was slightly injured when a small caliber handgun discharged.

Alvin Smith, 50, died at the Americana Nursing Home in Waterloo on Dec. 17.

Susie Tjepkes, 79, Grundy Center, died at her home on Dec. 18 of an apparent heart attack.

50 YEARS AGO

DECEMBER, 1962

Mr. & Mrs. Richard Barr hit a patch of frosty pavement east on Hwy #175 on December 18 on their way to Waterloo. The car struck a utility pole and both were thrown from the car. Richard received a skull fracture, fractured collarbone and back injury. Mrs. Barr was less seriously injured. Mr. Barr is a law partner of Roger DeWolf.

Dora Frey passed away at her home on Dec. 13.

Gregg Moser, 21, lost control of his car and crashed into Wm. Craig. Moser was fined $25 plus costs.

Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Wrage are parents of a son born Dec. 11.

Mr. & Mrs. Wilbert Wolff are parents of a daughter born Dec. 17.

Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Heithoff, Jr. are parents of a son born Dec. 7.

Mr. & Mrs. Doug Brotherton, Dubuque, are parents of a daughter born Dec. 16

Henry Brandhorst, Reinbeck and Lucinda Williams, Manchester, were married on Dec. 17.

Jim Paton closing-out farm sale to be held Dec. 27.

DEC. 1952

Bronze Star Medal has been awarded to Army Major Louis E. Morrison, son of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Fackel. He is stationed with the 3rd Infantry Division in Korea.

Charles L. Robinson, 83, died Dec. 13 at the Grundy Hospital.

Jesse Speirs, 68, Traer, died of pneumonia on Dec. 11.

James Barks and Dorothy Schmidt, Dike, were married on Dec. 13.

Mr. & Mrs. H.C. Fabricious, former Reinbeck residents, observed their 55th wedding anniversary on Dec. 14.

Eldon Wilhelm, 29, enlisted soldier, was killed in action on the African front.

Mr. & Mrs. Herman Crabtree are parents of a daughter born Dec. 12.

James Bodle, Traer, died Dec. 11.

W.J. (Jack) Harris, returned from a 1400 mile trip thru Calif. & Ariz. photographing purebred livestock for owners and magazines.

70 YEARS AGO

DEC. 1942

Donnabelle Mutch & Pvt. Warren Hall were married on Dec. 8.

Mrs. Martin Martinsen suffered a severe burn on her right arm while pouring hot cleansing fluid into a drain.

Wm. Tabot has sold his residence in Reinbeck to Mrs. Bertha Voss for $2,000.
