REINBECK - One of the highest scoring girls' basketball teams in recent Iowa high school history got off to a solid start on Monday night.
The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels turned away Cedar Valley Christian in both teams' season opener, running away from the Huskies for a 70-45 victory.
Erin Wentzien, Nicole Adair and Hayley Weber had 13 points apiece to lead a balanced Rebel attack. Britney Keller added 10 points and Emily Snider had nine for Gladbrook-Reinbeck, which knocked down nine 3-pointers in debuting this year's edition of 'The System.'
Take two will be tonight as the Rebels host Denver in a varsity girls-only game at 6:15 p.m.
Shelby Hembera scored a game-high 22 points to pace Cedar Valley Christian.
