NOV. 28, 2002

River otters released in BlackHawk Creek, north of Morrison, in Grundy County as part of a restoration program.

Workers from Morris Enterprises of Clutier are installing a valve on the water line.

Stained glass windows are installed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. The windows were dedicated to the church on Sept. 28 with a special service.

Courtney, 7, and Carley Crozier, 5, donate locks of their hair to "Locks Of Love" an organization which began in 1997 to help children who have experienced a total loss of hair due to illness or other conditions.

Mr. & Mrs. Adolph Kolpek will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 8 with an open house at the Grundy United Methodist Church.

Brian Badding and Megan Miller will be married Dec. 28 in Carroll, Iowa.

Dr. Andrew Hagen, Sr. 80, died Nov. 18 in DeLand, Fla.

Roy "Bud" Schelker, 80, Clutier died in a fire at his home Nov. 24.

Melissa Stull named academic All Conference at Luther College for the 2nd time.

Lighten Up Iowa will be launched statewide in 2003.

Pre-Thanksgiving storm dumps up to 10 inches of wet heavy snow on the area.

Marlys Garner, 90, Davenport, died Nov. 27 in Davenport.

K.W. Gethman, Gladbrook, died Dec . 30 at a Marshalltown Hospital.

Milo Kubik, 81, Traer, died Dec. 1 at Allen Hospital.

Mr. & Mrs. Bart Petersen are parents of a son born Nov. 11.

Mr. & Mrs. Shannon Clark are parents of a son born Nov. 17.

Connie Plaehn and Ted Bolen are parents of a son born Nov. 18.

Mr. & Mrs. Rex Dinsdale are parents of a daughter born Nov. 19.

Mr. & Mrs. Gary Esboldt of Northfield, Minn. are parents of a son born Nov. 24.

Mr. & Mrs. George Brubaker will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Dec. 5 with a dance.

Minerva Karkosh celebrated her 90th birthday on Dec. 4.

The first snow of the season came late Sunday p.m. and several days another 2 inches fell.

Mr. & Mrs. Robert Isenhowerr observed their 25th wedding anniversary on Dec. 28.

Henry Johns, 80, Gladbrook, died Dec. 4.

Telford Hamer, 76, died Dec. 6.

Howard Mooty, 56, formerly of Reinbeck, died Dec. 2 at Rochester, Minn.

Lincoln Commercial Club selected Vivian Sebbert to receive Lincoln's 1982 outstanding Citizen Award.

Tami Billerbeck was named to the state overall honorable mention team in volleyball.

Kenneth Bicket has been appointed to fill the vacancy on LSB bank board created by the death of J Harold Miller.


DEC. 1972

Mr. & Mrs. David Hite have purchased the property at 408 Broad St. for a reported price of $10,500. It was purchased as an investment.

Glenn Rogers, 59, Reinbeck, was among three people killed at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Ellis of Cordele, Ga. Jerry James Ellis, 18, is being held in connection with the slayings.

Mr. & Mrs. Dale Heideman are parents of a daughter born Dec. 2.

Alfred Volkens, 74, died Nov. 29 at a Marshalltown Hospital.

Diane Plaehn and Dale Olson were married Nov. 17 at Salem Church in Lincoln.

Helene Ewoldt, 74, Reinbeck, died at the Grundy Hospital on Dec. 3.

Mark, 13, son of Mr. & Mrs. Beryl Manlick was taken to the Grundy Hospital with pneumonia.


DEC. 1962

John Lang, 76, former Reinbeck attorney, died at Sumner on Nov. 20.

Robert Frahm will hold closing-out sale on Dec. 11.

Mr. & Mrs. Harry Adair will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 18.

Diane Storjohann and Alvin Giesking will be married on Dec. 28.

Mr. & Mrs. Wm. DeWolf are parents of a daughter born Nov. 30.

Mr. & Mrs. Robert Shope, Mason City, are parents of a son born Dec. 3. Mrs. Henry Thede, 74, Gladbrook, died Nov. 29.


DEC. 1952

Louise Stoddard resigned as Grundy Co. nurse as of Jan. 1.

Mr. & Mrs. J.D. Wollesen, Lincoln, observed their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 22.

Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Pippert, Gladbrook are parents of a son born Nov. 25.

Carol Cramer was united in marriage to Eugene Stone on Nov. 29.


DEC . 1942

Elfreida Blohm and Toby Stirler were married Nov. 22.

J. Harold Miller, Chairman of Grundy County A.A.A. & A. C.P stated the whipping cream has been prohibited for sale as of Dec. 1.

Mr. & Mrs. Russell Sindt are parents of a daughter born Nov. 29.

Fred Fredericksen, 44, was killed instantly in Washington D.C. by a hit & run driver on Dec. 1.

Joe Yuska, Buckingham, tore the muscles in both legs and received skin abrasions when caught in a corn elevator.
