NOV. 21, 2002

Paul Cooley & Tom McLean, both of Morrison, are the newest grillers with their 12 foot grill.

Heather Schmidt & Jeffrey Greiner were married on Sept. 7 at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.

Mr. & Mrs. Gene Stone celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary while traveling thru Oregon & Washington. They were married Nov. 29, 1953

Nikolai Astephrey of Russia will be adopted by Missy Voigts, Reinbeck.

Minerva Karkosh will celebrate her 100th birthday on Nov. 30 at Parkview Manor.

Isabelle Eicklenborg, 77, Dike, died Nov. 16 at Grundy Co. Hospital.


NOV. 29, 1992

Six Rebel football players, Darren Reid, Willy Baumeier, Aaron Russell, Judd Heideman, Rob Saak and Wayne Haskovek were all named to all district team.

George Hall, 77, Reinbeck, died Nov. 18 at Allen Hospital. Services were held on Nov. 21 at the U.C.C. Church.

Kelly Meyer, 91, Grundy Center, died at the long-term care unit in Grundy Center. Services were held Nov. 2 at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church.

Mr. & Mrs. Randy Evenson celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving. They were married Nov. 24, 1967 at Amity Presbyterian Church.

Paul Greiner will celebrate his 90th birthday on Dec. 1.


NOV. 1982

Bruce Thede has completed his thesis entitled "Microbial Transformation of the Phrrolizidine Alkaloids" and will graduate in December from University of Iowa with a Ph.D. in Medicinal chemistry.

Mr. & Mrs. Brian Lorenzen of Grundy Center are parents of a son born Nov. 17.

Cheryl Terfehn became the bride of Thomas Hansen on Nov. 13.

Lincoln Savings Bank, Reinbeck, has received their first ATM machine.

C. Denise Petersen won $500 at Ernie's Super Valu bankroll.

Albert Peters, 73, Reinbeck, passed away Dec. 1.

Harry Segdel, 91, Gladbrook, died Nov. 27.


NOV. 1972

Jan Ehrig won $1,300 at Ernie's Super Valu bankroll drawing.

Three people remain hospitalized with serious injuries. The accident happened seven miles west of Grundy Center. Gordon L. Johannsen, 20, Reinbeck, crossed the center line striking an auto owned by Marie Willer, 54, Reinbeck and driven by Gerald Catherwood, 36 of Grundy Center. Catherwood was taken to Allen Hospital with a fractured right arm and head injuries. Ms. Willer was taken to Iowa Methodist in Des Moines with head injuries, a fractured leg and facial lacerations. Johannsen was taken to the Marshalltown Hospital with a fractured leg and arm and ruptured spleen.

Simon Siefken, 77, Reinbeck, died Nov. 21 at Schoitz Hospital.

Mr. & Mrs. Don Rickert are parents of a son born Nov. 22.

Louise Frerichs, 81, died Nov. 21 at the Grundy Co. Hospital.

Mr. & Mrs. Henry Boege, Gladbrook, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 10 with an open house.

Mr. & Mrs. Rube Ballard, Reinbeck, will be honored at an open house on Dec. 23 for their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mr. & Mrs. Charles Plaehn, Reinbeck, will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with an open house on Dec. 10.

Lutjen Beenken, Sr. 71, Morrison, died Nov. 26 at Schoitz Hospital.

Dr. Glenn Dalbey, 55, Traer physician, died at Allen Hospital.

Edwin Eggers, 79, Gladbrook, died Nov. 23 at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home.


NOV. 1962

Loyd Plaehn, Reinbeck, to be honored on Dec. 7 for 20 years of service as salesman for Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Co.

Mrs. Frank Boll and Dean Larsen will hold a closing out farm sale on Dec. 5.

John Creswell, 14, son of Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Creswell suffered multiple skull fractures in a "freak" tractor accident. John was driving a tractor owned by George Glasener, Jr. which had a heavy hitch pin attached to the seat with twine and it flew up and hit John in the head.

Randy Juhl, 17, was selected as one of the six top football ends of eastern Iowa.

Gleva Hulme became the bride of A2C Ray Kreman at Colorado Springs on Nov. 25.

Marion Larsen & Glenn Brumbaugh were married on Nov. 25.

Mr. & Mrs. Charles Fink, Lincoln, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at the Lincoln Amvets on Nov. 18.

Hans Andersen, 46, suffered a heart attack.

John Rhodes, 71 suffered a stroke at his home.

Geraldine Karkosh became the bride of William Ayers, Waterloo, on Nov. 20.

Kathryn Claussen became the bride of Jerry J. Nelson on Nov. 21.


NOV . 1952

The $25,000 damage case of Roxie Nehring against George & Gerald Smith has been postponed.

Leroy A. Moser, Jr. purchased the residence of Noel Lorenz in west Reinbeck for $11,500. The tenants, Mr. & Mrs. Doyle Coffman will move into a new home in the Plaehn Addition which they purchased for $8,000.

Elmer Petersen of Reinbeck was elected as Fire Chief.

Mr. & Mrs. Burdette Moeller are parents of a daughter born Nov. 22.

Karl Wieland, 57, Gladbrook auto dealer, died of a heart attack.


NOV. 1942

Johanna Wieben, 42, died Nov. 19 at an Independence Hospital.

Lorraine Witt became the bride of Delbert Clarke on Nov. 22.

Mr. & Mrs. O.L. Devick are parents of a son born Nov. 23.

Jeannie, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Brown is recovering from severe burns on her back caused by pulling a pain of scalding water onto herself.
