Westview Estates open up more apartments for applicants.

Ryan King & Sarah Reetz were married Oct. 9 in Olympia, Wash.

Wm. VanDeest, 86, Wellsburg, died Oct. 16 at the Grundy Co. Hospital.

Casper "Cap" Niehaus, 96, Grundy Center, died Oct. 17 at the Long Term Care Unit at the Grundy Co. Memorial Hospital.

Anna Wilson, 84, Grundy Center, died Oct. 18 at Allen Hospital.

Reinbeck Theatre Guild puts on The Mouse Trap with 4 of the original cast of Mel Schildroth, Willa Hunter, Dale Greiner & Merlyn Wrage, which was presented in Feb. '69.


OCT. 29, 1992

Reinbeck Police Chief, Dennis Keeler, 39, was arrested and charged with forgery and two counts of tax evasion.

Amy Johannsen, Traer. and Patrick W. White, Toledo, were married Sept. 12 at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook.

Emma Creswell, Parkview Manor resident, will celebrate her 100th birthday on Nov. 5.

Mr. & Mrs. Harlan Nielsen will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 31.

Teresa Hazlet & Bo Hakanson were married on August 1 at the First Baptist Church in Boone.


NOV. 4, 1982

Rosie Moser sustained a severe fracture of her left hip in a fall at her home. She underwent surgery to mend the fracture.

Reinbeck police department reports that concerned parents of a 11 year old girl found a needle protruding from a piece of candy still in the wrapper in her trick or treat candy.

Work on the new shelter house at Elmwood Park has been finished for this year. The shelter house was made possible by contributions of $3,000 and much free labor by the Am. Legion Post #242 in Reinbeck.

Wesley Koch, 82, Hudson, died Nov. 1 at Schoitz Hospital in Waterloo.

Caroline Strohbehn, 94, Reinbeck, died Oct. 27 at Parkview Manor.

Charles Slessor sustained a slight concussion and other bruises while operating his combine at Breakenridge Farms near Dinsdale. He was transported to Schoitz Hospital.

Catherine McIntyre and Allan Wical were united in married on Oct. 16 at Sacred Heart Church in Grundy Center.

Peggy Mitchell, Reinbeck, and Mike Nieland, Cedar Rapids, were married on Oct. 23 at the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck.

Emma Creswell, Parkview Manor resident, celebrated her 90th birthday on Nov. 7 with an open house at the Memorial Bldg.

Mr. & Mrs. Tote Randall, Ames are parents of a son born Oct. 11.


NOV. 2, 1972

Rose Rickert, 75, Reinbeck, died Oct. 29 at Schoitz Hospital.

Lisa Lorenz, 13, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Lyle Lorenz, Reinbeck, sustained a severe fracture of the upper part of her right leg.

Henry Schafer, 81, former jeweler in Grundy Center died Oct. 28 at his homes in Ames.

Damage estimated at $1,100 resulted from a freak driverless auto mishap. Mrs. John Hepperle left her car running while shopping at Hook's Grocery and apparently the automatic transmission slipped from park to drive and crashed into the theatre building.


OCT. 1962

Albert G. Morrison, 78, Morrison, died Oct. 24 when an oil stove exploded and flames ripped through his small frame house.

Roger Bern, son of Mr. & Mrs. Carl Bern, Jr. has been named counselor for the mens' residence hall at the University of Kansas.

I.E. workman are dismantling the old substation on Broad St. accidentally started a fire on the oil covered concrete. It reached an empty oil tank which exploded.

Virgil White broke a bone in his right hand while working at Rath's.

Mr, & Mrs. Marvin Jans celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Oct. 28.

Maridee Wilke and James Schumacher were married in Cedar Rapids on Oct. 27.

Mrs. Henry Lynch, 67, Grundy Center, died Oct. 24.

Lucille DeBower, 57, Dike died Oct. 27.


OCT. 1952

Ed Witt celebrated his 70th birthday on Oct. 26.

John Wrage, 55, died Oct. 24.

Mr. & Mrs. Lester Buhman are parents of a daughter born Oct. 24.

Loretta Beckwith and Vic Swanson of Independence were married Oct. 25.


OCT. 1942

Henry Wieben had his index finger on his left hand badly smashed while loosening some corn stalks from his corn picker.

Mr. & Mrs. Wendell Clausman are parents of a daughter born Oct. 28.

Mr. & Mrs. Joe Bailey are parents of a son born Oct. 21.
