The Art Festival was a great success!
The day started off a bit cold and windy, but Joyce Wild, Community Development Director, was ready with Plan B.
Early morning volunteers helped many artists get relocated into the Memorial Building. The day was filled with artists, shoppers, volunteers, food from our great restaurants and deli (the artists received Victory donuts, maid rite lunches, strawberry pie and pizza samples), wonderful music, and children proudly carrying their glittering artwork and talking about clay projects. The entire day helped bring visitors and locals to Main Street.
Joyce Wild and Julie Russell-Stewart did an awesome job of spearheading the festival. There were so many volunteers working for months in advance: some recruiting the judges, the artists, and the musicians, others securing the funding and the donations, others producing media spotlights in newspapers, television, brochures, e-mails and Facebook, more volunteers developing ideas to make the artists and the attendees feel welcome and enjoy the experience of the festival, and on and on with all of the planning.
The windows on Main are filled with artwork. It is exciting to have such talented people in Reinbeck.
The day of the festival there were dozens of volunteers helping throughout the day, helping make the event one to remember.
I am always telling people about our small town with lots of willing volunteers that work together to make great happenings for people to enjoy and remember.
Joyce, Julie, the Community Development Board, the artists, and to all of the awesome volunteers for made our First Annual Art Festival such a successful happening!
