Pink Out for the 5th annual girls night out

Grab your girlfriends and make a difference! The Grundy Center Chamber of Commerce is hosting the fifth annual Girls Night Out! event Thursday, October 11 from 4 p.m. 7 p.m. in downtown Grundy Center. Help us raise a record $1,500 for the Beyond Pink TEAM in support of breast cancer awareness and education as we celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Organizers are asking everyone to pink out! There will be prizes for those who are best displaying the theme get creative with pink costumes and outfits! Businesses can also get in on the fun by creating window displays all in pink, decorating inside in pink get creative and help us paint the town pink!

The Beyond Pink TEAM is a program of the Cedar Valley Cancer Committee, a non-profit organization serving the Cedar Valley, including Grundy County. The organization is made possible by the collaborative efforts of many health organizations, businesses, and dedicated individuals throughout the area. Through support groups, social events, education, public forums, advocacy, and offering free or reduced cost screenings, the Beyond Pink TEAM hopes to reach out to anyone needing more information about breast cancer screening, diagnosis, or treatment. Beyond Pink TEAM also provides financial support for women in breast cancer treatment through their Beyond Pink Fund. Through an application process, women in treatment can request a specific bill be paid, whether a medical bill or a living expense. The organization offers up to $1,000 per calendar year for each woman. A majority of the money donated to the organization is disbursed through the Beyond Pink Fund.

Attendees will not only find great specials at a variety of businesses, home-based businesses will also be dotting the downtown with tables set-up along the sidewalk. Representatives will be selling A.C.E. diet supplement, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Pink Zebra, Scentsy, Tastefully Simple, Velata and more! There's a record number of home-based businesses participating this year there will be something for everybody!

There will also be three drawings throughout the night. Shoppers will get one drawing ticket for money spent at participating businesses to win one of three prize packages, each valued at $200 (must be present to win). Raffle tickets will also be sold for a Grand Prize Package valued at $750 and includes a night in a pink limo! Raffle tickets will only be available for purchase during the event and you don't need to be present to win the Grand Prize.

Also available in limited supply are special Girls Night Out! bags. With a donation, you can receive your very own pink ribbon bag with coupons, deals and items from Grundy Center businesses valued at nearly $40!

Participating businesses include, but are not limited to: Garden Gate Florist & Gifts, Grundy County Memorial Hospital, The Headliner, Johnny Rays, Manly Drug Store/As You Like It, The Olive Branch, Park Place Restaurant, Pizza Hut, The Rogue Baker, Shabby Shack, Stylish Living, Town & Country Golf Club, True Value Hardware, Video Place, The Whispering Moose, and more. Several of these businesses will be featuring pink specials throughout the evening.
