ASPIRE, the non-profit organization that offers therapy through horseback riding techniques for individuals with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities in the Cedar Valley, is hosting the "Dances with Horses" fundraising event on September 22, 2012. The doors will open at 6:00 and the gala will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the McElroy Auditorium, National Cattle Congress grounds in Waterloo. Performers include: featured rider Heidi Herriott, the Midwest Renegades, Shannon Arritola, Raccoon River Riders and many more.

ASPIRE Therapeutic Riding was founded in 1997 by the mother-daughter duo of Marilyn Moore and Kelly Carley. It is accredited by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH Intl) and is one of over 800 therapeutic riding programs in the country. They offer various classes throughout the year aimed to improve the mobility and balance of its riders as well as gain confidence for young individuals. The organization strives to reach out to the community in various ways with a day camp in August and a Mini-Angels program that gives individuals at schools and nursing homes the opportunity to interact with some of their mini-horses.

ASPIRE invites everyone in the Cedar Valley to attend this magnificent horse performance at 7:00 p.m., Saturday evening. Three years old and under are free. In addition to the performances, there will be a silent auction throughout the evening starting at 6:00 and ending at intermission. Items include: Western pleasure show saddle, western saddle pad, chaps, and many more. All proceeds will benefit the ASPIRE Therapeutic Riding Program.
