Strains in vaccine this year:
There are again 3 strains in the 2012-13 flu vaccine and they are the same as last season. They are the 3 most likely viruses to cause illness in our part of the world during the upcoming flu season. (2 A strains and 1 B strain) And it is not too early to get your flu shot. It takes 2 weeks for the vaccination to be effective and the protection last a whole year.
Preventing the Flu:
There are things we can do to stay healthy this flu season. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue away. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Wash your hands often
Stay home when you are ill/don't send kids to school when they are sick.
Get a flu shot, to protect yourself and those around you.
