Grundy County REC?meeting

Thursday evening, September 6th, the Grundy County REC conducted its 76th Annual Meeting at the Grundy Center Community Center. An audience of about 200 people was in attendance.

President Donald Poppens of Ackley conducted the business meeting. Earl Slinker, Grundy Center was re-elected and Norbert Boyle, Ackley was elected to three year terms as Directors of the Cooperative.

Kathy Taylor, Vice President of Corporate Relations of Corn Belt Power Cooperative talked about power supply, energy efficiency and storm damage.

The re-organization meeting was held immediately following the Annual Meeting and the officers elected were: President, Larry Rohach; Vice-President, Ernie Podhajsky; Treasurer, Kevin Pruisner; Secretary, Jason Paper and Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, Earl Slinker.

Winners of the 5 $100 cash prizes were: Russell Katzer, Conrad; Glen Draper, Eldora; Robert Bonzer, Liscomb; Herman Luhring, Parkersburg and Richard Steppe, Steamboat Rock. Winners of the 5 $50 cash prizes were: Norbert Boyle, Ackley; Wilbert Ubben, Aplington; Jerom Velky, Clutier; Bernard Buskohl, Holland; and Richard Ohrt, Reinbeck. Winners of the 40 $20 cash prizes were: Donald Arends, Eugene Beving and 7-H Farms Ltd, Ackley; Eddie Sivola, Aplington; Jay Duncan, Denise Isaacson and Clifford Sams, Beaman; Dolores Yuska, Buckingham; Bessie Hrstka, Ellen Krezek, Jean Miller, Steven Rash, Helen Sevcik, and Bernard Svoboda, Clutier; Hughes Inc., Conrad; Donald Pruisner, Dike; Verlin McAllister, Eldora; James Hooper, Robert Knaack, Gladbrook; Larry Craig, Ralph Hook, Rudolf Hook and John Krull, Grundy Center; Stanley Chesick, Mary Davis, Rose Hooper and James Svendsen, Marshalltown; JoAnn Hippen and Joe Schipper, Parkersburg; James Stanbrough, Reinbeck; Nelson Primus, Steamboat Rock; Alice Chizek, Dostal Farms, Inc. Ervin Hanus, Roy Kern, Dorothy Pecenka and Donald Wolfgram, Traer; Noel Rewerts, Harold Sealman and Darrell Sents, Wellsburg. An electric grill given away in a special drawing was won by Betty Hayek, Clutier.
