Gary R. Johnson, 19, rural Gladbrook, is in fair condition at Schoitz Hospital after his car was struck by a Chicago-Northwestern train, 3 miles northeast of Lincoln on Sept. 17.
Mr. & Mrs. Floyd Carstensen of Gladbrook are parents of a daughter born Sept. 18.
Kenny Lee Backens, 29, a former Reinbeck resident, was killed in a early morning shooting at a farm house 6 miles northeast of Dunkerton. The incidence remains under investigation.
