SEPT. 5, 2002

United Church of Christ will celebrate their 125th anniversary on Sept. 8 with a dinner at the Memorial Bldg.

BlackHawk Night Hawks 4-H Club and Aid Association for Lutherans make a donation to the Reinbeck swimming pool.

Mr. & Mrs. Danny Starits celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at St. Boniface Social Center in Garwin on Sept. 14.

Mr. & Mrs. Victor Dalrymple of Belvidere, Ill. are parents of a son born August. 27.

George Lang, 75, Grundy Center, died Aug. 29 at his home.


SEPT. 1992

Mr. & Mrs. Charles Neil will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary in New Hampton on Sept. 20.

Ellen Harbert & Jamie Stoner were married June 20 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Naomi Roberts will celebrate her 90th birthday on Sept. 20 with a family dinner.

Mr. & Mrs. Chris Willer will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Sept. 20.

Julie Schneider & Trey Purvis are planning an Oct. 10 wedding.

Kristina Rismeyer and Randall Rohweder were married Aug. 8.

Mr. & Mrs. Robert Strohbehn are parents of a daughter born Sept. 2.

Mr. & Mrs. Greg Snider are parents of a son born Sept. 7.


SEPT. 1982

Laurie Husman, Morrison, will be installed as Worthy Advisor of Reinbeck Assembly #100 Order of Rainbow Girls on Sept. 26.

Homecoming queen candidates are: Connie Burdick, Kelly Cooley, Cheryl Peterson, Kim Spear and Marilyn Brubaker.

Helen Nissen, 82, formerly of Reinbeck, died Sept. 18 at Ravenwood Care Center in Waterloo.

Mr. & Mrs. Richard Brekke, Boone, are parents of a daughter born Sept. 17.

Reinbeck Ram football team scored two 4th quarter touch-downs at Wellsburg to come from behind to win their second game 14-7.


SEPT. 1972

Bill Davidson of Lincoln Savings Bank, is the new farm representative who will begin his duties next week.

Mary Wood & Earl Schick were married on June 19 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck.

Gary R. Johnson, 19, rural Gladbrook, is in fair condition at Schoitz Hospital after his car was struck by a Chicago-Northwestern train, 3 miles northeast of Lincoln on Sept. 17.

Mr. & Mrs. Floyd Carstensen of Gladbrook are parents of a daughter born Sept. 18.

Kenny Lee Backens, 29, a former Reinbeck resident, was killed in a early morning shooting at a farm house 6 miles northeast of Dunkerton. The incidence remains under investigation.


SEPT. 1962

The former elementary school building and proper of Lincoln was purchased by the Town of Lincoln for a play ground and recreational area.

Dike Methodist Church gives go ahead for a new church.

Swier Cannegeiter, 68, Grundy Center, died on Sept. 16.

Penny Traen and Dean Snow plan a wedding for Oct. 14.


SEPT. 1952

Forrest Dugan, 52, cousin of D.A. Dugan of Reinbeck, drown on Sept. 14 in Ontario, Canada.

Dr. Jack Haskell has received orders to report for the Army on Oct. 29.

Reinbeck Tavern on W Main St. changed owners when Elmer Hirsch sold the business to Bill Ballard.

Jo Ruth Hunter was stricken with polio and taken to Iowa City.

Lawrence Shields of Reinbeck, received patent rights for his collapsible canvas cover for vehicle beds after two years of work.

Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Townsley, living east of town, are parents of a son born Sept. 15.

Mr. & Mrs. Wilmer Bern are parents of a son born Sept. 12.

Marilyn J. Meggers and Donald Cowell of Waterloo were married on Sept. 14.

Harriet Patrick and Lester Linder were married Sept. 17.


SEPT. 1942

Lindsay Keith has been appointed new salvage chairman for Grundy Co.

George Lorenz, 57, Lincoln, died of heart trouble on Sept. 11.

427 students are enrolled in the Reinbeck School.

Mrs. Wm. Engle, 87, who fell on the post office steps in July breaking her hip died Sept. 14.

Sgt. Clarence Graves, Traer, is reported as Missing in Action in the Philippines.

Wm. J. Claussen, 61, died after a long illness on Sept. 15.
