The annual Pioneer Craft Fair at the Grundy County Heritage Museum in Morrison will take place on Sunday, September 9, from 11 AM to 4 PM.
Many old favorites will be returning to the craft fair like quilting, beekeeping, spinning, etc. and many new favorites from last year are back, too! Kids can participate in fun activities like the treasure hunt in the hay, pony rides, railroad rides, rock painting, etc. Also returning is the Barn Stahl Petting Zoo from Wellsburg.
Nile Dielschneider, Conrad, will be demonstrating the timber framing techniques used in barn building over a century ago.
"Golden Harvest" is the Chuck Frietag print that will be raffled this year. Tickets will be available at the Pioneer Craft Fair event or can be purchased in advance by calling (319) 345-2688. The drawing will be held at 4 PM the day of the Craft Fair. Winner need not be present to win.
There will be musical entertainment provided by "The Other Band" starting at 2 PM.
You won't go away hungry if you visit the Farmers Market area. The popular lunch stand at the Heritage Center will be offering their selection of sandwiches, chips, drinks and more. Visit the log cabin for the fireplace-cooked stew and the opportunity to sample fresh-churned butter.
And out at the wildlife area north of town will be the buckskinner camp. Busses will load in Morrison to take visitors to and from the activities happening there as no drive in access to the area is permitted. You can take a ride on the horse drawn wagons while at the camp.
Plan to attend this fun family event on Sunday, September 9, in and around Morrison. The Pioneer Craft Fair event is cosponsored by Historical Collections of Grundy County and the Grundy County Conservation Board.
