Waterloo Honor Flight

September 2, 2012
Reinbeck Courier

The Waterloo Honor Flight has now officially opened up to Korean War Veterans.

With the need to fill the plane for the Honor Flight of Tuesday, September 18, it was decided to begin accepting applications from Veterans of the Korean War. Veterans may pick up their application at any Waterloo, Cedar Falls or Waverly HyVee or by printing one from the Waterloo Honor Flight website at Applications must be mailed (they cannot accept email or fax) to: Waterloo Honor Flight, c/o J Liming, 404 Locust St, La Porte City, IA 50651. DO NOT mail your application to any other address.

Once your application is received you will be mailed a post card of confirmation. This will serve as your receipt which we encourage you to keep in an easily locatable area as reference. You are being asked not to call to inquire upon the receipt of your application or when you might be called to go. Because of time constraints, any calls of inquiry cannot be returned.

Veterans will be called in the order their application is received. Those calls, which would qualify you for the September flight, should all be completed within the next three weeks. They anticipate a huge response from this release, so if you do not receive a call within that time, they ask that you understand they have filled the flight and you did not make this cut. Applications will be stored in the date received for future flights. As dates for those flights are announced they will begin calling.

Due to the anticipated influx of applications they must confine the acceptance of Korean War applications to residents of Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Grundy and North Tama (N of Hwy 30) counties only. They will be unable to accept applications from outside those areas. They will also not accept applications from Veterans of WWII who also served in Korea and have gone on a previous Honor Flight.

The Waterloo Honor Flight wishes to remind all WWII Veterans that they are still accepting your applications and that if received you will be automatically placed at the top of the list. First priority will still be given to WWII Veterans.
